IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
These instructions must be read before use. Please retain for future reference.
Before starting any electrical work or maintenance always switch OFF the mains supply and remove the appropriate circuit
fuse. This luminaire should be installed by a competent person (i.e. qualified electrician) and wired in accordance with the
current edition of the IEE Wiring regulations (BS7671 Requirements for Electrical Installation17th Edition) and Part P of the
Regulations and appropriate statutory regulations. This luminaire is designed for connection to a 240 Volt supply. It is rated
Class II and must not be earthed. Always check the lamp is correct for the application including its wattage and
voltage. Special attention should be paid to installations with low ceiling voids.
Installation Notes
We recommend that a sample hole be cut in some scrap material to familiarise yourself with the installation. Once you are
completely satisfied read these instructions and check you have all the tools and accessories to complete the installation
correctly.
Choose the position of the luminaire to provide the lighting effect you require and check the following:
• There is no obstruction by joists, pipes or electrical wiring above the ceiling
• There is a minimum ceiling void depth of 100mm
• There must be at least 0.5m distance between the front of the luminaire and the nearest directly
illuminated surface, such as the top of a cupboard
• The luminaire must have adequate free air flow around it. There must be no insulation materials
within 75mm of the luminaire. It must not be covered.
• Do not install the luminaire into new plaster or damp areas
Installation
FITTING
1. Push/squeeze the metal fitting clips upwards and fit into the ceiling hole.
2. Push the unit upward until firmly in position, ensuring that the cable is not trapped.
3. Replace the circuit fuse and switch on the mains to test.
REMOVAL
Should you need to remove the unit, switch off at the mains. Grip the inside of the downlighter and pull downwards.
Replacement is as instructed above under FITTING.

1. Before commencing installation or maintenance, the electricity supply must be isolated. We recommend that the circuit
fuse is withdrawn to prevent accidental switching on whilst work is in progress.
2. Draw the mains cable through the hole in the ceiling and remove the terminal block wiring cover.
3. Ensure that the incoming mains cables correspond to the labelled terminal within the unit. The incoming live supply wire
must be opposite the terminal L (Brown Wire), and the incoming Neutral supply wire must be opposite the terminal N
(Blue Wire) within the terminal block. It is important that the basic (single insulated) cables are not visible outside the terminal block.
Secure the terminal block cover.
4. This unit is double insulated and must not be earthed. Please note: If there are any incoming earth cables, they must
be joined together and well insulated. This is to ensure earth continuity throughout your property.
Ensure that no loose strands of conductor are left exposed or protrude from the terminals.

Using the Downlight in Bathrooms
The illustration and notes below are based on BS 7671: 2008 Requirements for Electrical Installations, IEE Wiring Regula-
tions 17th Edition, Section 701 and are provided only as a guide. For comprehensive details including installations without a
bath or shower basin please look in this document.
Usage
In accordance with the regulations above, when this luminaire is used in Zone 1 or 2 the lighting circuit must have
protection provided by a residual current device having a rated residual operating current, not exceeding 30 mA. This mains
voltage luminaire is protected to a rating of IP 65 from the front when mounted in a horizontal ceiling.
