ELECTRICAL SYSTEM MEMORY PROTECTOR

WARRANTY STATEMENT
Brown & Watson International Pty Ltd (“BWI”) of 1500 Ferntree Gully Road, Knoxfield, Vic., telephone (03) 9730 6000, fax
(03) 9730 6050, warrants that all products described in its current catalogue will under normal use and service be free of
failures in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of the original purchase by the customer as
marked on the invoice. This warranty does not cover ordinary wear and tear, abuse, alteration of products or damage
caused by the purchaser.
To make a warranty claim the consumer must deliver the product at their cost to the original place of purchase or to any
other place which may be nominated by either BWI or the retailer from where the product was bought in order that the
warranty assessment may be performed. The consumer must also deliver the original invoice evidencing the date and
place of purchase together with an explanation in writing as to the nature of the claim.
In the event that the claim is determined to be for a minor failure of the product then BWI reserves the right to repair or
replace it at its discretion. In the event that a major failure is determined the consumer will be entitled to a replacement or
a refund as well as compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
This warranty is in addition to any other rights or remedies that the consumer may have under State or Federal legislation.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a
replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You
are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does
not amount to a major failure.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
CAUTION:
If the vehicle’s positive terminal makes contact with the vehicle chassis, the memory protector’s auto reset
circuit breaker will trip and the vehicle’s memory will be lost.
Connection using battery clips
1. Ensure master switch of the Memory Protector is OFF (LED on switch is not illuminated).
2. Connect Memory Protector’s RED battery clip to the vehicle’s positive (+ve) terminal.
3. Connect Memory Protector’s BLACK battery clip to the vehicle’s chassis.
4. Check the Connection Polarity Indicator inside the pocket of the bag; the red LED should be ON.
Note: If the RED LED is not on, check the clips on the battery terminal and chassis are correctly
connected. If the car battery is flat or less than 4 Volts the LED will not turn on.
5. Turn ON the master switch of the Memory Protector.
6. Remove the vehicle’s negative (-ve) terminal from the battery’s negative post.
7. Carefully remove the vehicle’s positive (+ve) terminal from the battery’s positive post.
Ensure that the terminal does not make contact with the vehicle’s chassis.
8. Remove and refit battery.
9. Re-connect the vehicle’s positive (+ve) terminal to the battery’s positive post.
10. Re-connect the vehicle’s negative (-ve) terminal to battery’s negative post.
11. Turn OFF the master switch of the Memory Protector and remove the clips to the battery.
Connection using cigarette lighter lead
1. Ensure master switch of the Memory Protector is OFF (LED on switch is not illuminated).
2. Connect the cigarette lighter plug to the vehicle’s cigarette lighter socket or accessory socket.
3. Turn the ignition switch of the vehicle to the accessories position
(this will connect the Memory Protector to the car battery and electrical system).
4. Check the Connection Polarity Indicator inside the pocket of the bag; the red LED should be on.
Note: If the RED LED is not on, check to see if there is a poor connection, the battery clips may need
to be used (See above instruction Connection using battery clips). If the car battery is flat or less than 4
Volts the LED will not turn on.
5. Turn ON the master switch of the Memory Protector.
6. Remove the vehicle’s negative (-ve) terminal from the battery’s negative post.
7. Carefully remove the vehicle’s positive (+ve) terminal from the battery’s positive post
Ensure that the terminal does not make contact with the vehicle’s chassis.
8. Remove and refit battery.
9. Re-connect the vehicle’s positive (+ve) terminal to the battery’s positive post.
10. Re-connect the vehicle’s negative (-ve) terminal to battery’s negative post.
11. Turn vehicle’s ignition switch to the OFF position and turn the Memory Protector’s master switch OFF.
12. Remove the Memory Protector’s cigarette lighter lead from the vehicle.
Charging
1. The Electrical System Memory Protector should be charged at least once a week or whenever the com-
puter protector indicates “Poor” level of charge.
2. Charging using the AC charger- disconnect the battery clips lead or coiled lead from the unit and
connect the AC charger. Plug the charger into a mains outlet and switch on. Charging will usually take
8-12 hours. The charger is automatic and may be left connected to the Memory Protector withou t risk of
overcharging it.
Charging using the Cigarette Plug– disconnect the battery clips lead or AC charger lead and connect
the coiled lead (cigarette plug). Plug into vehicle’s cigarette socket. VEHICLE MUST BE RUNNING.
Note: When the vehicle is off, disconnect or switch off the Memory Protector from the vehicle as it may
run accessories on the vehicle discharging the Memory Protector.
