SAFETY WARNINGS
WARNING
Read all safety warnings and in-
structions. Failure to follow the
warnings and instructions may result in electric
shock, fi re and/or serious injury. Save these instruc-
tions - This operator’s manual contains important
safety and operating instructions for the
MILWAUKEE Infrared Temp-Gun™ Thermometer.
Before using the Temp-Gun™, read this opera-
tor’s manual and all labels on the Temp-Gun™.
LASER SAFETY
• Laser light - Do not stare into beam or view di-
rectly with optical instruments. Do not point laser
light at others. Laser light can cause eye damage.
• Avoid exposure to laser radiation. Laser may emit
hazardous radiation.
• Do not point laser at refl ective surfaces. Unpre-
dictable results may occur.
WORK AREA SAFETY
• Keep children and bystanders away while oper-
ating Temp-Gun™. Store idle Temp-Guns™ out
of the reach of children and do not allow persons
unfamiliar with the tool or these instructions to
operate them.
• Avoid dangerous environments. Do not use in
rain, snow, damp or wet locations. Do not use in
the presence of explosive atmospheres (gaseous
fumes, dust or fl ammable materials) because sparks
may be generated when inserting or removing bat-
teries, possibly causing fi re.
PERSONAL SAFETY
• Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use
common sense when operating Temp-Gun™.
Do not use while you are tired or under the infl u-
ence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment
of inattention may result in serious personal injury.
• Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and bal-
ance at all times. This enables better control in
unexpected situations.
BATTERY USE AND CARE
• This tool is designed to be powered by one (1) 9V
battery properly inserted into the MILWAUKEE
Temp-Gun™. Do not attempt to use with any other
voltage or power supply.
•Do not leave battery within the reach of children.
• Install battery according to polarity (+ / –) dia-
grams.
• Properly dispose of used batteries immediately.
• Do not incinerate or dismantle batteries.
• Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected
from the battery, avoid contact. If contact ac-
cidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid
contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help.
Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation
or burns.
SERVICE
• Have your Temp-Gun™ serviced by a qualifi ed
repair person using only identical replacement
parts. This will ensure that the safety of the tool is
maintained.
• Do not disassemble. Incorrect reassembly may
result in the risk of electric shock or fi re. If it is dam-
aged, take it to a MILWAUKEE service facility.
• Store in a cool, dry place. Do not store where
temperatures may exceed 140°F (60°C) such as
in direct sunlight, a vehicle or metal building during
the summer.
• Do not remove or deface labels. Maintain
labels and nameplates. These carry important
information. If unreadable or missing, contact a
MILWAUKEE service facility for a free replacement.

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
Distance to Spot: 30:1 —— Center of Spot
– – – Laser pointer (approx. 3/4" above center of spot)
Spot size at distance indicated
At 5' away, spot is 2.5" in diameter
At 3' away, spot is 1.2" in diameter
At 1' away, spot is 0.9"
in diameter
NOTE: A quick change in
temperature (>10°F) af-
fects the meter’s readings.
Allow the meter to reach
ambient temperature be-
fore use (5 to 30 minutes,

2. Press the up or down arrows to
toggle between temperatures. Wait
5 seconds for the ranges to save
and exit.
Alarm High (HI)
If the set temperature is reached dur-
ing a scan, the primary measurement
will fl ash and alarm will sound.
Alarm Low (LOW)
If the set temperature is reached during a scan, the
primary measurement will fl ash and alarm will sound.
Setting the Emissivity
To set the emissivity value, pull the trigger and then
press the SET button four times. Press the up and
down arrow buttons to adjust the numeric value. Wait
5 seconds for the setting to save and exit.
Contact Temperature Measurement with
K-Type Probe
Only use K-type Temperature Probes with this meter.
1. Insert the probe. The unit detects a connection of a
K-type probe and displays the contact temperature
(KTC) as the primary measurement.
2. The display will continue to update the contact
temperature (KTC) while the temperature probe
reaches thermal equilibrium with the object being
measured.
3. To return to IR mode, remove the K-type probe.
Log
1. Press the LOG button to toggle the
log segments on and off. Press the
up or down arrows to scroll through
saved logs.
2. To record a log, press the LOG
button to turn on the log seg-
ments. While the unit is actively
taking measurements or while the
unit is in hold, press and hold the
LOG button. The recorded value
will appear in the secondary mea-
surement, and the correlating log
number will blink to confi rm saving.
Both the secondary measurement
and the log segment will fl ash fi ve
times to indicate the record is saved.
Once the max amount of logs have
been reached, the log number starts
over again at 1.
Low Battery
When the Low Battery icon is dis-
played, change the battery.
Mode Description
MAX Displays maximum temperature mea-
sured during a continuous reading
MIN Displays minimum temperature measured
during a continuous reading
AVG
Displays average temperature of last 20
measurements during a continuous reading
DIF Displays the difference between MAX
and MIN during a continuous reading
ASSEMBLY
Loading/Changing the Battery
1. Using a fl at screwdriver,
rotate the battery door lock
to the unlocked position
and open the battery door.
2. Connect one (1) 9V bat-
tery to the connector
block. Fit the battery into
the compartment.
3. Close the battery door.
Turn the battery door lock
to the locked position.
Selecting Celsius or Fahrenheit
To set the temperature scale, pull the trigger and
then press the SET button three times. Press the
buttons above the up and down arrows to toggle
between °C and °F. Wait 5 seconds for the setting
to save and exit.
Setting the Laser Lock
To turn the laser on and off, pull the trigger and then
press the SET button fi ve times. Press the buttons
above the up and down arrows to toggle between
ON and OFF. Wait 5 seconds for the setting to save
and exit.
OPERATION
Scanning Object Temperature
1. Pull and hold the trigger for at least 2 seconds and
scan the surface temperature of an object. A laser
pointer is used for aiming on the
area being scanned.
NOTE: The object should be larger
than the spot being scanned. If
not, readings will be affected. See
Distance-To-Spot for necessary
object size.
2. As you continue to hold the trigger,
the icon is displayed along
with the primary measurement
(surface temperature) and sec-
ondary measurement (maximum,
minimum, average, or differential
temperature) readings.
3. Release the trigger. HOLD is
displayed until the screen shuts off in about ten
seconds.
Setting the Trigger Lock
To turn the trigger lock on and off, pull the trigger
and then press the SET button six times. Press the
buttons above the up and down arrows to toggle
between ON and OFF. Wait 5 seconds for the setting
to save and exit.
Temperature Alarm
Press the ALARM button to turn on
the alarm function. The bell icon is
displayed. If the temperature reading
is outside the preset range, the tem-
perature reading will fl ash. Alarm will
sound.
Setting Preset Range
for the Alarm
1. To set the alarm range, pull the trig-
ger and then press the SET button.
Repeat to toggle between HI and
LO settings.
