HOW TO TAME SKIPPY
Skippy is a polyrhythmic linear and logarithmic matrix and nonξ˜›matrix sequencer
that offers four completely independent but synchronized tracksξ˜™

F PRINCIPLE
 Skippy operates either on a realξ˜›time time passing calculation nonξ˜›matrix
mode or based on a fixed step duration concept like many sequencers matrix
modeξ˜œξ˜™ Both modes can coexist track by trackξ˜™ For exampleξ˜– a TILES sequence
is a matrix function where a step has a predetermined value in the sequenceξ˜– and
depending on the algorithmξ˜– a gate will or will not be generated at each stepξ˜™ On
the other handξ˜– with a Gaussian sequenceξ˜– the notion of fixed step value disapξ˜›
pearsξ˜™
Depending on the algorithmξ˜– a new time value will be assigned to each stepξ˜– allowξ˜›
ing time progression outside any matrix notionξ˜™ Some functions commonly found
in sequencers as matrices are calculated in real time hereξ˜– based on durationξ˜™ Skipξ˜›
py’s EUCLID functionξ˜– for exampleξ˜– operates this wayξ˜™
To retain the notion of rhythm and repetitionξ˜– howeverξ˜– the always fixed unit in a
sequence is the time it takes Skippy to complete one screen revolutionξ˜™ This value
remains repetitive regardless of the number of steps or the chosen algorithmξ˜™ This
time is determinedξ˜– track by trackξ˜– by the BPM functionξ˜™

 INTERFACE
 Each track is represented by a color that can be found on the four buttonsξ˜– the
four circles on the screenξ˜– and the four output LEDsξ˜™
Track ξ˜•ξ˜” redξ˜“ Track ξ˜’ξ˜” yellowξ˜“ Track ξ˜‘ξ˜” greenξ˜“ Track ξ˜ξ˜” blue
 A gate is sent to each CV output ξ˜ξ˜• to  at the same time and for the same
duration as the corresponding LEDξ˜™ The output voltage is Vξ˜™
The limited edition Pure White version of Skippy has a black and white interface
onlyξ˜™ξ˜
 The central encoder button is used to navigate through the functions by turnξ˜›
ing it left or rightξ˜™ When the encoder is pressed brieflyξ˜– the function name changes
color from white to violet except for the RESET functionξ˜– which is always disξ˜›
played in violetξ˜œξ˜™ Pressing the button again exits the functionξ˜– and the function
name changes back from violet to whiteξ˜™ You can then navigate through the funcξ˜›
tions againξ˜™
 When the function name is in violetξ˜– turning the encoder will change the values
associated with the selected function AND the illuminated buttonsξ˜œξ˜™ For exampleξ˜–
if the red button and the blue button are litξ˜– selecting the number of steps STEP
function will only change the number of steps for tracks ξ˜• and ξ˜ξ˜™ It is possible to
select or deselect a button even when the function is already selected to adjust the
tracks individually or as a groupξ˜™
 Upon startupξ˜– Skippy advances step by stepξ˜– symbolized by a white dot moving
around the circle of each colorξ˜™ The startup begins at the bottom and rotates in the
direction determined by WAYξ˜™
It may happenξ˜– depending on the manipulationξ˜– that Skippy loses track of which
step to use or that the tracks become unsynchronizedξ˜™ The RESET function allows
restarting all four tracks simultaneously the input can also be used CV clock in
for this purposeξ˜“ see system functionsξ˜œξ˜™

 SYSTEM FUNCTIONS
 By long pressing the encoderξ˜– you enter System modeξ˜™
Long pressing the encoder again returns you to the game
functionsξ˜™
In System modeξ˜– you select the function by turning the
encoderξ˜– and then you configure it by briefly pressing its
buttonξ˜™
J SAVE
 By turning the encoderξ˜– you can choose the save position from ξ˜‹ to  
slotsξ˜œξ˜™ The name of the save is its numberξ˜“ there is no possibility to edit the nameξ˜™
PLEASE NOTE that the data automatically replaces any existing data in the chosen
slotξ˜™
 If the save process is successfulξ˜– the message β€œOK”
appears in greenξ˜™ In case of an error for exampleξ˜– if the
SD card is missingξ˜œξ˜– the message β€œERR” appears in redξ˜™
Saves are made on an internal SD card that is already
installedξ˜™ It is not intended to be easily removedξ˜” no data
can be written to it except for the save dataξ˜™
 If you want to duplicate the content of this card to
use it on another Skippyξ˜– for exampleξ˜œξ˜– you must do it
with the MODULE OFF AND DISCONNECTED or else
you risk damaging the circuitξ˜™
J LOAD
 By turning the encoderξ˜– you can choose the position
of the data to load from ξ˜‹ to   slotsξ˜œξ˜™
If the loading process is successfulξ˜– the message β€œOK”
appears in greenξ˜™ In case of an error for exampleξ˜– if no
data is present in that slot or if the SD card is missingξ˜œξ˜–
the message β€œERR” appears in redξ˜™
