EM305A – CLAMP MULTIMETER
Before you start using EM305A clamp multimeter read carefully this
Instruction Manual.
There are highlighted important selected passages which deal with the
occupational safety of this device. This is the way how to avoid electrical
accidents or damage to this device.
The clamp multimeter was designed in compliance with IEC-61010 related
to electronic measuring equipment falling into the category (CAT III 600V),
safety class II and pollution level 2.

WARNING
Pay close attention to the following instructions:
• Before you start using the multimeter check carefully the device for
damage. In case you nd evident damage, do not make any measure-
ments! Check the surface for scratches and unglued side joints.
• Check insulation on measuring probes and jaws. When the insulation
is damaged the risk of electric shock may occur. Do not use damaged
measuring probes and jaws!
• Do not measure voltage higher than 600 Vor current higher than 600A!
• Clamp “COM“ must be connected to the reference measuring earth.
• If you nd out abnormal measurement results, do not use the mul-
timeter. In case you are not sure about the cause of fault, contact the
service centre.
• Do not measure higher voltage and current values than those which
are marked on the front panel of the multimeter and jaws. There is arisk
of electric shock and damage to the multimeter!
• Before the use verify the right function of the multimeter. Test the circuit
of which you know the electric parameters.
• Before you connect the multimeter to the circuit for which you want
to measure current, switch o supply of the given circuit.
• Do not use and store the multimeter in the space with high temperature,
dustiness and humidity. We also do not recommend using the device
where strong magnetic eld occurs or where the risk of explosion or
re occurs.
• When replacing the battery or other parts of the multimeter, use spare
parts of the same type and specication. Replace the parts only when
the multimeter is o and disconnected!
• Do not change or modify the inner circuits of the multimenter in any
way!
• Pay close attention to measurement of voltage higher than 30 VACrms,
peak 42 Vor 60 VDC. There is arisk of electrical injury!
• When handling the measuring tips, make sure you hold them behind
the nger barrier.
• To avoid electrical injury do not touch any bare conductors with your
hand or skin.
• Before you open the multimeter cover, disconnect the measuring tips
from the tested circuit.
• Do not make measurements when the multimeter cover is removed
or loose.
• As soon as the at battery icon appears “ “, replace the battery.
Otherwise the performed measurements can be inaccurate.
CATIII – measurement category III is designated for measurements of
house installation.
The example are measurements of distributions, circuit breakers, electric
installations, including cables, busbars, connection boxes, switches, sock-
ets, equipment for industrial use and some other equipment as stationary
engines with permanent connection to the xed installation. Do not use
the device for measuring in category IV.
WARNING
Use the multimeter EM305A only in the way specied below, otherwise
damage to the device or your health can occur. Pay attention to the
following instructions:
• Before you measure resistance, diodes or current, disconnect the circuits
from the power supply and discharge high-voltage condensers.
• Before measuring, make sure that acircular switch of the measurement
range is in the right position. Do not make any changes in the measure-
ment range during the measuring process (indexing the circular switch
of measuring programmes) in any case! It could result in damage to
the device.
• If you measure current, switch o the circuit supply before connecting
the multimeter.
Device Description
The clamp multimeter EM305A is of the range of compact devices with a3.5
digital display designated for the measurement of direct and alternating
voltage, alternating current, resistance, diode testing and sound tests of
conductivity and circuits.
The multimetr is equipped with an automatic range for measuring values.
It indicates exceeding the measured range. It has an automatic break
function. The multimeter provides an overload protection and informs
on the battery low conditions.
The multimeter EM305A is suitable for using e.g. in workshops, laboratories
and households.

In-built buzzer:
When pushing the FUNC./HOLD button, the buzzer gets switched on
provided that the function of this button is active.
Before the measuring device automatically is switched o, it emits 5 short
beeps, later after one minute, it emits along beep and then it automat-
ically switches o.
Note:
When the current range of 2/20A is set up, the buzzer is not active.

Note:
To prevent electric shock or damage to the measuring device do not
connect the clamps to voltage higher than 600V.
Measurement of Alternating Current (AC)
1. Set the rotary switch to position 2/20A~, 200/600A~ for measuring
alternating current.
2. Push the lever and enclose the measured conductor with the jaws.
Check the jaws for perfect closure.
Note:
a. Only one conductor can be enclosed by the jaws each time.
b. For obtaining accurate data the conductor must be in the middle of
the jaws.
