1. Safety
Warning!
In order to minimise theîrisk of ďŹre, electric shock or personal injury, certain basic safety precautions must always
be observed when using this machine. Read this instruction manual carefully before using theîproduct and save
this manual for future reference.
⢠Keep theîworking area tidy. Cluttered surfaces and benches invite accidents.
⢠Take stock of your working environment. Do not expose theîtool to rain. Do not use theîtool in moist or wet
areas. Keep theîworking area well lit. Never operate theîtool near ďŹammable liquid or gas.
⢠Avoid electric shocks. Avoid body contact with earthed objects such as pipes, radiators, ovens or refrigerators.
⢠Keep other people at aîsafe distance. Do not allow anyone, especially children, not involved in theîwork process
to touch theîtool or its electric cable. Keep all bystanders at aîdistance.
⢠Store theîtool in aîsafe place. When your tools are not in use, keep them in aîlocked, dry area, away from children.
⢠Do not force theîtool. The tool will work better and safer at theîfeed rate for which it was intended.
⢠Use theîcorrect machine. Do not try to use small tools to perform jobs requiring more powerful tools. Do not
use aîtool for aîpurpose for which it was not designed, e.g. using aîcircular saw for lopping branches off trees.
⢠Wear suitable attire. Do not wear loose-ďŹtting clothing or jewellery; they could be caught in moving parts.
Non-slip shoes are recommended for outdoor work. Wear aîhairnet or similar if you have long hair.
⢠Always use safetywear. Wear safety glasses. Use aîdust mask or dust ďŹlter when working in dusty environments.
⢠Use dust extractors. If theîtool is equipped with or connected to aîdust extractor/collector, make sure that
itîis turned on and used correctly.
⢠Do not abuse theîlead. Do not jerk theîlead, grip theîplug itself when disconnecting theîpower. Make sure
that theîmains lead does not come into contact with heat, oil, or sharp edges.
⢠Firmly secure theîworkpiece. If possible use vices or clamps to hold theîworkpiece in place. This is much
safer than holding theîworkpiece in one hand.
⢠Do not overreach. Make sure that you stand steady and balanced all times.
⢠Look after you tools. Make sure that they are clean and that theîedges are sharp for maximum effect and
best results. Follow theîmanualâs recommendations regarding lubrication and replacement of accessories.
Inspect theîmains lead regularly. If it is damaged it should be replaced by aîqualiďŹed service technician.
Inspect all leads and cables regularly to check for any damage. Make sure that theîmachineâs handles and
controls are clean, dry and free from oil and grease.
⢠Have any defective power switches replaced at aîqualiďŹed service centre.
⢠Do not use theîproduct if theîON/OFF switch does not function properly.
⢠Turn theîpower off. Pull out theîplug and push in theîemergency stop button before servicing or changing
any blades, drill bits, cutters or sanding discs.
⢠Remove all spanners and repair tools. Make aîhabit of checking to make sure that theîmachine is free of all
spanners and tools before turning theîpower on.
⢠Avoid accidental starts. Do not walk around with your ďŹnger on theîtrigger of aîpower tool if it is plugged in.
Make sure that theîON/OFF switch is set to OFF before plugging in any power tool.

ENGLISH
⢠Use theîcorrect extension leads. If you use extension leads outdoors, only use those designed for outdoor
use. Only use extension leads with thick enough diameter core wires and roll out theîwhole lead.
⢠Use common sense and be careful. Think before carrying out any task, so that it is carried out safely.
Never operate machines/power tools when you are tired or under theîinďŹuence of medicine.
⢠Check theîfollowing before turning theîtool on:
- That all guards and other parts are whole and in working order.
- That moving parts are free and correctly aligned.
- That no moving parts can get caught.
- That there are no visible defects.
- Other factors that can inďŹuence work execution.
⢠Use only recommended accessories. The use of accessories which are not recommended by
theîmanufacturer may present aîrisk of personal injury.
⢠Check that theîtool conforms to current safety regulations. Repairs to theîtool should only be carried out by
aîtradesman using original spares; otherwise theîtool could cause accidents and personal injury.
Additional safety instructions
⢠If using aîďŹoor stand, make sure that theîband saw is securely fastened to theîstand and that theîstand is
properly assembled and securely fastened to theîďŹoor.
⢠Make sure that theîband saw is positioned in such aîway that theîworkpiece can be worked on in aîsafe manner.
⢠This saw must not be used for wet cutting. Doing so can lead to deadly electric shocks. This band saw is
only intended for dry cutting.
⢠The drive belt must not be put under too much tension; it will last longer if theîtension is released when
theîsaw is not in use.
⢠Do not allow theîbuild-up of sawdust around theîmotor or inside theîmachine. Piles of sawdust are aîďŹre hazard.
⢠The sawblade must not be stopped through theîexertion of pressure on theîworkpiece or by apply force to
theîsides of theîblade.
⢠The machineâs safety guards must be in place and functioning properly. Always check that theîblade guides
are correctly aligned.
⢠Never turn theîmachine on if theîsaw blade is in contact with theîworkpiece.
⢠Make sure that there are no nails or screws in theîworkpiece which could damage theîsaw blade.
⢠Do not attempt to modify theîmachine or its accessories in any way.
⢠Do not apply too much pressure to theîworkpiece when feeding it into theîsaw blade. A steady feed
rate reduces wear on theîsaw and saw blade and consequently increases theîefďŹciency and useful life of
theîband saw. Replace any worn table inserts.
⢠Connect theîband saw to aîdust extractor before starting to saw. The saw must not be used if any of its
panels is open or if theîblade guard is not in place.
⢠Select an appropriate saw blade and sawing speed for theîtype of workpiece.
⢠When sawing with aîtilted table, position theîguide on theîlower side of theîtable.
⢠Position theîblade guard as close to theîworkpiece as possible.
Saw blade safety
⢠Use only blades recommended by theîmanufacturer/supplier.
⢠Do not use aîdamaged or deformed saw blade. Doing so could result in considerable danger to theîuser
orîdamage to theîmachine.
⢠The direction marked on theîsaw blade should correspond to theîdirection of theîpulleyâs rotation.
⢠The teeth of theîblade should be pointing downwards when theîblade is viewed from theîside.
