Safety information
• This device has not been designed for use
by people (including children) with restricted
physical, sensory or intellectual abilities or
lack of experience and/or knowledge, unless
they are supervised by a responsible person
(for their own safety) or have received instructions
on how to use the device.
• Children should be supervised to ensure that
they do not play with the device.
• In order to avoid the device being switched on
unintentionally, remove the adapter from the
mains socket after each use and before cleaning.
• Check the device and all parts for visible
damage. The device’s safety concept can only
work if the device is in perfect condition.
• The mains adapter must always be freely
accessible so that the device can be separated
from the power supply quickly in an emergency.
- 5 -
Risk of electric shock!
• Only connect the device to a properly installed
and earthed mains socket. The mains voltage
must agree with that stated on the device’s
specification plate.
• Damaged adapters or mains cables should
be exchanged immediately by an authorised
technician or the Customer Service in order to
avoid risks.
• Connection cables or devices that do not work
perfectly or have been damaged should be
repaired or exchanged immediately by Customer
Services.
• Never immerse the device in water!
Simply wipe it with a slightly damp cloth.
• Do not expose the device to rain or use it in a
damp or wet environment.
• Ensure that the connection cable is never wet or
damp when in use.
- 6 -
• Due to the charging current, only batteries with
appropriate capacities may be charged:
Ni-MH batteries:
- AA min. 1750 mAh/max. 2700 mAh
- AAA min. 750 mAh/max. 1000 mAh
Ni-Cd batteries:
- AA min. 700 mAh/max. 1000 mAh
- AAA min. 300 mAh/max. 600 mAh
• Should an attempt be made to charge batteries
with significantly lower capacities, the batteries
could be destroyed.
• Charge exclusively rapid rechargable batteries
of the types "Ni-Cd" and "Ni-MH".
NEVER charge batteries of other types or non-
rechargeable batteries. These are not suitable for
recharging. If you do, both the battery charger
and the inserted batteries could be damaged
beyond repair.
- 8 -
Thunder storms!
Devices connected to mains power can be
damaged during a thunder storm. If there is a
thunder storm, always remove the mains plug
from the socket.
For damage caused by ...
• opening the housings of the Rapid Battery
Charger, power adapter or vehicle-adapter
• attempted repairs made by non-qualified
personnel
• improper use of the Rapid Battery Charger,
power adapter and/or the vehicle-adapter, no
liability or warranty will be accepted!
• Leakage of battery acids can occur, especially
with old batteries. You should remove all batteries
from the Rapid Battery Charger if you do not
intend to use it for an extended period. You can
thus protect the Rapid Battery Charger from
damage caused by leaking battery acids.

Note:
It is possible that the cigar-lighter only functions
with a switched-on vehicle ignition. If you are
unsure, consult the vehicle handbook.
Caution!
For vehicles in which the cigar lighter resp.
onboard power sockets also function with a
switched-off vehicle ignition:
Only use the Rapid Battery Charger with the
engine running. Otherwise, the vehicle battery
could be completely discharged by the use of
the Rapid Battery Charger!
- 16 -
• Place the selector switch einto the position

batteries of differing sizes (AA or AAA), capa-
city or charge condition. Ni-MH and Ni-Cd
batteries must not be loaded simultaneously.
Ensure that the batteries are inserted into the
charging slots in accordance with their polarities.
Otherwise, the batteries will not be charged.
• The charging process now begins. The Rapid
Battery Charger has a control lamp
wfor each
cell in the charging slots t. The control lamps w
show the charging condition of the individual
batteries.

in the batteries, the charging process can take
various lengths of time. The average charging time
can be taken from the following table. Take note
however that the times given are only guiding values.
Type Typ AA
Capacity Ni-MH Ni-Cd
2300 mAh 110 min. ---
