SELECTING THE FILTER BASKET
Single Wall Filter Baskets
The Single Wall lters (1 & 2 CUP) are designed to
be used with freshly ground coee and allow you
to experiment with grind, dose, and tamp to create
a more balanced espresso.

Dual Wall Filter Baskets
The Dual Wall lters (1 & 2 CUP) are designed to
be used with pre-ground coee and regulate the
pressure to help optimise extraction and crema
regardless of the grind, dose or tamp pressure.

COFFEE PREPARATION

Insert the correct Filter Basket into the portalter.
Fill the Filter Basket with ground coee, tap down
to collapse the coee, then using the integrated
tamper, tamp down rmly.
It’s important to apply consistent pressure
every time.
• As a guide to dose, the top edge of the metal
cap on the tamper should be level with the
top of the lter basket AFTER the coee has
been tamped.
• Wipe excess coee from the rim of the lter
basket to ensure a proper seal in the group
head is achieved.
TRIMMING THE DOSE
The Razor™ precision dose trimming tool allows
you to trim the puck to the right level for
a consistent extraction.

allows you to trim the puck to the right level for
a consistent extraction.
Dose the Portalter with freshly ground coee and
tamp down with between 15-20kg of pressure.
Insert the Razor™ into the coee basket until its
shoulders rest on the rim of the lter basket.
Rotate the Razor™ dosing tool back and forth
while holding the portalter on an angle over the
knock box to trim o excess coee.

EXTRACTING ESPRESSO
Insert the Portalter into the Group Head & lock
into position. Turn the Control Dial to the ‘Espresso’
position. After a few seconds, coee will begin to
brew into the cup.
When sucient coee has owed into the cup, turn
the Control Dial to ‘Standby’. Sage® recommends
approx. 30 sec of extraction.
NOTE
For optimal avour when using a 1 CUP
lter, you should extract approx. 30ml.
When using a 2 CUP lter, you should
extract approx. 60ml.
NOTE
If machine is run continuously for
30 minutes, allow machine to cool for
5 minutes before each use.
WARNING
The metal parts of the portalter
will be very hot.

CARE & CLEANING
The water lter provided helps to prevent
scale build up which over time can aect the
performance of your machine, potentially causing
blockages and heating problems.
Replacing the water lter every three months
will reduce the mineral build up in the machine.
If you live in a hard water area, we recommend you
change the water lter more frequently.
PORTAFILTER CLEANING
Periodically run water through the machine with the
portalter in place, but without any ground coee,
to rinse out any residual coee particles.
MACHINE CLEANING
After regular use, residual grinds and oil build up in
the machine can aect coee extraction.
We recommend performing a cleaning cycle every
2-3 months using the cleaning tablet provided.
To perform a cleaning cycle:
1. Insert the silicon disk into the portalter.
2. Place the cleaning tablet on the silicon disk
(position in the centre).
3. Insert the portalter into the group head
and rotate to right to lock in position.
4. Ensure Power On / O button is on.
5. Turn the dial to the ‘Espresso’ position for
20 seconds.
6. Turn the dial back to the ‘Standby’ position.
7. Repeat steps 5-6 three times or until the
cleaning tablet is dissolved.
DESCALING
Even if you are correctly using the water lter
provided, we recommend you to descale when
you see scale build-up in the water tank.
Visit Sage® webpage to purchase “the Descaler”.
1. Ensure the Control Dial is in the ‘Standby’
position, the machine is switched o.
2. Remove the lter holder.
3. Empty one sachet (25g) into 1 litre of warm
water, stir to dissolve.
Pour solution into the water tank.
4. Press the POWER button to switch the
machine on.
5. Place a large container under both the
Group Head and the Steam Wand.
6. Set the Control Dial to the ‘Espresso’
position and let half the descale solution
run through the Group Head.
7. Set the Control Dial to the ‘Steam’ position
and allow the remaining solution to run
through the Steam Wand. When the liquid
stops owing, set the Control Dial back
to the ‘Standby’ position.
8. After descaling, remove the water tank
and rinse thoroughly then rell with fresh
cold water. To rinse the machine, repeat
steps 5-8.
AUTO OFF MODE
The machine automatically switches to AUTO OFF
mode after 20 minutes.

und 5 Minuten lang in einer Tasse Wasser
einweichen.
• Filter unter kaltem, laufenden Wasser spülen.
• Edelstahl-Sieb im Kunststo-Filterfach
mit kaltem Wasser spülen. Filter in den
Filterhalter einlegen.
• Drehwähler 3 Monate voraus stellen.
• Filter zum Einrasten nach unten drücken.
• Wassertank einschieben und einrasten
lassen.
HINWEIS
Keine der Teile oder Zubehörteile in der
Spülmaschine waschen.

ERSTE VERWENDUNG
Erster Start
• Wassertank mit Wasser füllen.
• POWER-Taste drücken.
• Die Maschine heizt auf ihre Betriebstemperatur
auf und geht in den Standby-Modus.
Maschinenspülung
Es wird empfohlen, die Maschine ohne
Kaeemehl mit Wasser durchzuspülen, um sie
für den Betrieb zu konditionieren. Hierzu die
folgenden beiden Schritte ausführen, wenn die
Maschine den Standby-Modus erreicht hat:
• Drehwähler 30 Sekunden lang auf
„Espresso“ stellen.
• Drehwähler auf „Dampf“ stellen, um
10 Sekunden lang Dampf zu aktivieren.
• Diesen Zyklus mehrere Male wiederholen.
FÜLLUNG DES WASSERTANKS
• Wassertank bis zur Maximalmarkierung
an der Seite des Tanks mit kaltem
Leitungswasser füllen. Wassertank wieder an
der Rückseite der Maschine einsetzen.
• Netzkabel an Steckdose anschließen und
Steckdose gegebenenfalls einschalten.
• POWER-Taste drücken. Die Leuchte der
POWER-Taste blinkt, während das Gerät
aufheizt. Sobald die korrekte Temperatur
erreicht ist, leuchten alle Tasten im Bedienfeld.

AUFSCHÄUMEN VON MILCH
• Aufschäumdüse vor dem Eintauchen
in Milch am besten kurz durchspülen.
• Drehwähler auf „Dampf“ stellen.
• Die LED „Dampf“ leuchtet auf.
• Drehwähler zurück auf „Standby“ stellen,
um die Dampfausgabe zu unterbrechen.
• Spitze der Aufschäumdüse anschließend
an der rechten Kännchenseite an der 3-Uhr-
Position etwas in die Milch eintauchen und
Drehwähler wieder auf „Dampf“ stellen.
• Spitze etwas unterhalb der Oberäche halten,
bis die Milch im Uhrzeigersinn wirbelt.
• Milch weiter wirbeln lassen und Kännchen
langsam absetzen. Düsenspitze weiter
etwas unter der Oberäche halten, bis
die gewünschte Temperatur erreicht ist.
• Zum Abstellen der Dampunktion Drehwähler
auf „Standby“ stellen. Kännchen entnehmen.
• Aufschäumdüse mit einem feuchten
Tuch abwischen.
HEIßWASSER
Verwendung der Heißwasserfunktion:
• Taste „AUSWAHL“ (SELECT) drücken. Die
LED-Anzeige für Heißwasser leuchtet auf.
• Drehwähler auf „Dampf“ stellen.

REINIGUNG UND PFLEGE
Der beiliegende Wasserlter hilft,
Kalkablagerungen zu vermeiden, die im
Lauf der Zeit die Leistungsfähigkeit Ihrer
Maschine beeinträchtigen sowie Blockaden
und Aufheizprobleme verursachen können.
Bei regelmäßigem Wechsel des Wasserlters
alle drei Monate lagert sich in der Maschine
weniger Kalk ab.
Wenn Sie in einer Gegend mit hartem Wasser
leben, wird empfohlen, den Wasserlter häuger
zu wechseln.
REINIGUNG DES SIEBTRÄGERS
Mit eingesetztem Siebträger ohne Kaeemehl
regelmäßig Wasser durch die Maschine laufen
lassen, um Kaeerückstände auszuspülen.
REINIGUNG DER MASCHINE
Bei regelmäßigem Gebrauch können Rückstände
von Kaeemehl und -öl in der Maschine die
Extraktion beeinträchtigen. Wir empfehlen, alle
2–3 Monate einen Reinigungszyklus mit den
beiliegenden Reinigungstabletten durchzuführen.
Durchführung eines Reinigungszyklus:
1. Silikonscheibe in den Siebträger einlegen.
2. Reinigungstablette auf die Silikonscheibe
legen (mittig positionieren).
3. Siebträger in die Brühgruppe einsetzen;
Gri bis zum Einrasten nach rechts drehen.
4. Ein- / Aus-Schalter muss EIN sein.
5. Drehwähler 20 Sekunden lang auf
„Espresso“ stellen.
6. Drehwähler zurück auf „Standby“ stellen.
7. Schritte 5–6 drei Mal wiederholen oder
bis die Reinigungstablette aufgelöst ist.
ENTKALKUNG
Auch wenn Sie den mitgelieferten Wasserlter
korrekt verwenden, empfehlen wir eine Entkalkung,
wenn Sie im Wassertank Kalkablagerungen

5. Großen Behälter unter die Brühgruppe und
Aufschäumdüse stellen.
6. Drehwähler auf „Espresso“ stellen und
die Hälfte der Entkalkerlösung durch die
Brühgruppe laufen lassen.
7. Drehwähler auf „Dampf“ stellen und die
verbleibende Entkalkerlösung durch die
Aufschäumdüse laufen lassen. Drehwähler
zurück auf „Standby“ stellen, wenn keine
Flüssigkeit mehr ausläuft.
8. Wassertank nach der Entkalkung
abnehmen, gründlich spülen und mit
frischem, kaltem Wasser füllen. Zur
Spülung der Maschine Schritte
5–8 wiederholen.

REINIGUNG DES FILTERSIEBS
Bei Verstopfung der feinen Löcher im Filter
die folgenden Schritte befolgen:
1. Filter in den Siebträger einlegen. Wasser
mit eingesetztem Filter und Siebträger
ohne Kaeemehl durch die Maschine
laufen lassen.
2. Löcher im Filtersieb eventuell mit einer
Nadel reinigen.
3. Zur gründlichen Reinigung der Filter eine
Reinigungstablette in heißem Wasser
auösen und Filter über Nacht in der
Lösung einweichen.

AUßENGEHÄUSES UND
DER WÄRMEPLATTE
Außengehäuse und Tassen-Wärmeplatte
mit einem weichen, feuchten Tuch reinigen.
Anschließend mit einem weichen, trockenen
Tuch polieren.
Keine scheuernden Mittel, Schwämme oder
Tücher verwenden.
REINIGUNG DER TROPFSCHALE
Tropfschale regelmäßig abnehmen, leeren
und reinigen.
Tropfschale mit warmem Wasser und nicht
scheuerndem Spülmittel waschen. Sorgfältig
spülen und trocknen. Fuß und Deckel der
Tropfschale sind spülmaschinenfest.

AVANT LA PREMIÈRE UTILISATION

• Retirez le ltre de son enveloppe en plastique
et laissez-le tremper dans une tasse d’eau
pendant 5 minutes.
• Rincez le ltre à l’eau froide du robinet.
• Lavez le ltre à mailles en acier inoxydable
contenu dans le support en plastique à l’eau
froide. Insérez le ltre dans le support du ltre.
• Réglez la molette sur 3 mois plus tard.
• Pour installer le ltre, poussez-le vers le bas
pour le verrouiller.
• Faites glisser le réservoir d’eau en place et
verrouillez-le.
REMARQUE
Veillez à ne mettre aucune pièce ni aucun
accessoire au lave-vaisselle.

PREMIÈRE UTILISATION

• Remplissez le réservoir d’eau.
• Appuyez sur le bouton POWER (Marche/Arrêt).
• La machine atteint la température de
fonctionnement et passe en mode veille.
Rinçage de la machine
Il est recommandé de lancer un cycle de rinçage
à l’eau, sans café moulu, pour s’assurer que la
machine a été conditionnée.
Une fois la machine en mode veille, procédez aux
deux étapes suivantes :
• Réglez le bouton de commande sur la
position Espresso pendant 30 secondes.
• Réglez le bouton de commande sur la
position Steam (Vapeur) pour activer la
vapeur pendant 10 secondes.
• Répétez ce cycle plusieurs fois.
REMPLISSAGE DU RÉSERVOIR
D’EAU
• Remplissez le réservoir d’eau froide du robinet
jusqu’à la marque maximale indiquée sur le
côté du réservoir et remettez le réservoir d’eau
en place à l’arrière de la machine.
• Branchez l’appareil dans la prise électrique.
• Appuyez sur le bouton POWER (Marche/
Arrêt). Le contour du bouton POWER clignote
pendant la période de chaue de la machine.
Lorsque la température requise est atteinte,
les contours de tous les boutons du panneau
de commande s’allument.

fraîchement moulu. Ils vous permettent
d’expérimenter avec la grosseur de mouture, la
dose et le tassement pour obtenir un expresso
plus équilibré.

prémoulu. Ils régulent la pression pour optimiser
l’extraction et la production de crème, peu importe
la mouture, la dose ou la pression de tassement.

PRÉPARATION DU CAFÉ

Insérez le panier ltre adéquat dans le porte-ltre.
Remplissez le panier ltre de café moulu, tapotez
pour répartir uniformément le café, puis utilisez le
tampon intégré pour bien tasser le café.
Il est important d’appliquer une pression constante
à chaque fois.
• À titre indicatif, le dessus du rebord
métallique du tampon doit être au même
niveau que le haut du panier ltre APRÈS le
tassement du café.
• Enlevez l’excès de café sur le bord du panier
ltre pour garantir une bonne étanchéité dans
le groupe d’infusion.
DOSAGE
L’outil de dosage de précision the Razor™ vous
permet de régler le galet presseur au bon niveau
pour une extraction uniforme.

permet de régler le galet presseur au bon niveau
pour une extraction uniforme.
Remplissez le porte-ltre d’une dose de
café fraîchement moulu et tassé à 15–20 kg
de pression.
Insérez l’outil the Razor™ dans le panier ltre pour
que ses côtés reposent sur le bord du panier.
Faites tourner l’outil de dosage the Razor™ dans
les deux sens tout en maintenant le porte-ltre
incliné au-dessus du tiroir de récupération pour
enlever l’excès de café.
