Thank you for purchasing the Roland Drum Stand MDS-20.

Before using this unit, carefully read the sections entitled: “USING THE UNIT SAFELY” and “IMPORTANT
NOTES.” These sections provide important information concerning the proper operation of the unit.
Additionally, in order to feel assured that you have gained a good grasp of every feature provided by your new
unit, Owner’s manual should be read in its entirety. The manual should be saved and kept on hand as a conve-
nient reference.

Loosen the two HAND KNOBs marked “a,” and open
the stand in order as Left side –> Right Side.
2.
Loosen the four QUICK RELEASE CAM LEVERs
marked “b,” and adjust height of the stand.
3.
Loosen the two QUICK RELEASE CAM LEVERs
marked “c,” and mount the two CYMBAL ARMs
marked “d” on the stand.
4.
Mount the four PAD MOUNTs marked “e” on the
stand.
5.
Mount the one CYMBAL MOUNT marked “f” on the
stand.
* Regarding the way of mounting a Sound Module or a Pad, please refer
to the Owner’s Manual that is installed in the products.
How to set up the Stand

* If the drum stand is to be used for extended periods in the same location,
we recommend using a Roland drum mat (TDM-10/TDM-20) to prevent
discoloration of flooring by the rubber feet.

parts by yourself, please tighten them in
order of the embossed → →

• Do NOT open the legs of the stand at more than 135 degrees, and NOT make
the distance of both Right/Left end legs as more than 2 m (80 inches). If you
do so, the cable (inside the Pipes) could get damaged and/or the stand could
fall down.
• Do NOT loosen the other screw than Hand Knob and Quick Release Cam
Lever.
• Do NOT pull the cables tensely too much.

Insert the PLUG of connecting cables into the TRIGGER INPUT JACK on backside of the
sound module.
2.
Insert the other (opposite side) PLUG into the TRIGGER OUTPUT JACK of each pad.
* When you connect the cables, please refer to the marking label that is attached on both edge of the cables.
Four more pads can be added using the four auxiliary cables marked “AX1–AX4.”

and sure to remain stable. Never place it on stands that
could wobble, or on inclined surfaces.

entangled. Also, all cords and cables should be
placed so they are out of the reach of children.

• Should you remove the bolts and washers, make sure to
put them in a safe place out of children's reach, so there is
no chance of them being swallowed accidentally.

• Make sure to firmly tighten all clamps and bolts after you
have assembled the stand and attached any components.
You should probably also try to make a habit of checking
and retightening them if necessary before every perfor-
mance. You risk injury if you have loose screws or
clamps, since a pad or component can fall unexpectedly.

• When setting up or storing the stand, be careful not to
pinch your hands or fingers in the stand joints.

• Do not expose the unit to direct sunlight, place it near devices that
radiate heat, leave it inside an enclosed vehicle, or otherwise
subject it to temperature extremes. Excessive heat can deform or
discolor the unit.
• Depending on the conditions of the setup location (flooring
materials, temperature, etc.), the drum stand’s rubber feet may
cause discoloration or marring of the floor surfaces.
Laying felt or other soft cloth under the rubber feet may allow you
to use the stand without such concerns. However, when employing
such methods, you need to make sure that the stand cannot slip
and move around.
Maintenance

For everyday cleaning wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth or one that
has been slightly dampened with water. To remove stubborn dirt,
use a cloth impregnated with a mild, non-abrasive detergent. After-
wards, be sure to wipe the unit thoroughly with a soft, dry cloth.

• Never use benzine, thinners, alcohol or solvents of any kind, to
avoid the possibility of discoloration and/or deformation.

• When connecting / disconnecting all cables, grasp the connector
itself—never pull on the cable. This way you will avoid causing
shorts, or damage to the cable’s internal elements.
