MAINTENANCE
TROUBLESHOOTING
ā€¢ If the supply cord of this power tool is damaged, it must be replaced by a specially
prepared cord available through the service organisation.
ā€¢ Keep the ventilation vents of the circular saw clean at all times, if possible, prevent
foreign matter from entering the vents.
ā€¢ After each use, blow air through the circular saw housing to ensure it is free from all
dust particles which may build up. Build up of dust particles may cause the circular
saw to overheat and fail.
ā€¢ If the enclosure of the circular saw requires cleaning, do not use solvents but a
moist soft cloth only. Never let any liquid get inside the circular saw; never immerse
any part of the circular saw into a liquid.
Carbon Brushes
When the carbon brushes wear out, the circular saw will spark and/or stop.
Discontinue use as soon as this happens. They should be replaced prior to
recommencing use of the circular saw. Carbon brushes are a wearing component of
the circular saw therefore not covered under warranty. Continuing to use the circular
saw when carbon brushes need to be replaced may cause permanent damage to
the circular saw. Carbon brushes will wear out after many uses but when the carbon
brushes need to be replaced, take the circular saw to an
electrician or a power tool repairer for a quick and low
cost replacement. Always replace both carbon brushes at
the same time.
Note: Ozito Industries will not be responsible for any
damage or injuries caused by the repair of the circular
saw by an unauthorised person or by mishandling of the
circular saw.
Replacing the Drive Belt
If the drive belt wears out, the belt will have to be replaced. Drive belts are a wearing
component of the mini circular saw therefore not covered under warranty. The drive
belt will wear out after many uses but when the belt need to be replaced, take the
saw to an electrician or a power tool repairer for a quick and low cost replacement.
Sparking visible through the housing air vents
A small amount of sparking may be visible through the housing vents.
This is normal and does not indicate a problem.
Excessive sparking visible through the housing air vents
and/or the circular saw failing to operate
May indicate the carbon brushes have worn out and need to be
replaced. Carbon brushes should only be replaced by a qualiīšæed
electrician or power tool repairer.

GENERAL POWER TOOL SAFETY WARNINGS - PERSONAL SAFETY
Dust Extraction Adaptor
DANGER: a) Keep hands away from cutting area and the blade. Keep your second hand
on auxiliary handle, or motor housing. If both hands are holding the saw, they cannot be cut by the
blade.
b) Do not reach underneath the workpiece. The guard cannot protect you from the blade below the
workpiece.
c) Adjust the cutting depth to the thickness of the workpiece. Less than a full tooth of the blade teeth
should be visible below the workpiece.
d) Never hold piece being cut in your hands or across your leg. Secure the workpiece to a stable
platform. It is important to support the work properly to minimize body exposure, blade binding, or loss
of control.
e) Hold power tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing an operation where the cutting
tool may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Contact with a ā€œliveā€ wire will also make exposed
metal parts of the power tool ā€œliveā€ and shock the operator.
f) When ripping always use a rip fence or straight edge guide. This improves the accuracy of cut and
reduces the chance of blade binding.
g) Always use blades with correct size and shape (diamond versus round) of arbour holes. Blades
that do not match the mounting hardware of the saw will run eccentrically, causing loss of control.
h) Never use damaged or incorrect blade washers or bolt. The blade washers and bolt were specially
designed for your saw, for optimum performance and safety of operation.
Further safety instructions for all saws
Causes and operator prevention of kickback:
ā€¢ Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched, bound or misaligned saw blade, causing an uncontrolled
saw to lift up and out of the workpiece toward the operator;
ā€¢ When the blade is pinched or bound tightly by the kerf closing down, the blade stalls and the motor
reaction drives the unit rapidly back toward the operator;
ā€¢ If the blade becomes twisted or misaligned in the cut, the teeth at the back edge of the blade can dig
into the top surface of the wood causing the blade to climb out of the kerf and jump back toward the
operator.
Kickback is the result of saw misuse and/or incorrect operating procedures or conditions and can be
avoided by taking proper precautions as given below.
a)ī˜ƒMaintainī˜ƒaī˜ƒīšærmī˜ƒgripī˜ƒwithī˜ƒbothī˜ƒhandsī˜ƒonī˜ƒtheī˜ƒsawī˜ƒandī˜ƒpositionī˜ƒyourī˜ƒarmsī˜ƒtoī˜ƒresistī˜ƒkickbackī˜ƒ
forces. Position your body to either side of the blade, but not in line with the blade. Kickback
could cause the saw to jump backwards, but kickback forces can be controlled by the operator, if proper
precautions are taken.
b) When blade is binding, or when interrupting a cut for any reason, release the trigger and hold
the saw motionless in the material until the blade comes to a complete stop. Never attempt to
remove the saw from the work or pull the saw backward while the blade is in motion or kickback
may occur. Investigate and take corrective actions to eliminate the cause of blade binding.
c) When restarting a saw in the workpiece, centre the saw blade in the kerf and check that saw
teeth are not engaged into the material. If saw blade is binding, it may walk up or kickback from the
workpiece as the saw is restarted.
d) Large panels tend to Support large panels to minimise the risk of blade pinching and kickback.
sag under their own weight. Supports must be placed under the panel on both sides, near the line of cut
and near the edge of the panel.
e) Blunt or improperly set blades produce narrow kerf causing Do not use dull or damaged blades.
excessive friction, blade binding and kickback.
f) Blade depth and bevel adjusting locking levers must be tight and secure before making cut. If
blade adjustment shifts while cutting, it may cause
binding and kickback.
g) Use extra caution when making a ā€œplunge cutā€ into existing walls or other blind areas. The
protruding blade may cut objects that can cause kickback.
Safety instructions for plunge cut circular saws
a) Check guard for proper closing before each use. Do not operate the saw if guard does not
move freely and enclose the blade instantly. Never clamp or tie the guard with the blade exposed.
If saw is accidentally dropped, guard may be bent. Check to make sure that guard moves freely and does
not touch the blade or any other part, in all angles and depths of cut.
b) Check the operation and condition of the guard return spring. If the guard and the spring are
not operating properly, they must be serviced before use. Guard may operate sluggishly due to
damaged parts, gummy deposits, or a build-up of debris.
c) Assure that the guide plate of the saw will not shift while performing the ā€œplunge cutā€ when the
blade bevel setting is not at 90Ā°. Blade shifting sideways will cause binding and likely kick back.
d) Always observe that the guard is covering the blade before placing saw down on bench or
ī›€oor.ī˜ƒAn unprotected, coasting blade will cause the saw to walk backwards, cutting whatever is in its
path. Be aware of the time it takes for the blade to stop after switch is released.
Additional safety instructions for plunge type saws
ā€¢ Wear ear protectors. Exposure to noise can cause hearing loss.
ā€¢ Wear a dust mask. Exposure to dust particles can cause breathing difīšæculty and possible injury.
ā€¢ Do not use blades of larger or smaller diameter than recommended. For the proper blade rating refer to
the technical data. Use only the blades speciīšæed in this manual, complying with standard EN 847-1.
ā€¢ Never use abrasive cut-off wheels. Residual risks
ā€¢ In spite of the application of the relevant safety regulations and the implementation of safety devices,
certain residual risks cannot be avoided.
These are:
ā€“ Impairment of hearing.
ā€“ Risk of accidents caused by the uncovered parts of the rotating cutting disc.
ā€“ Risk of injury when changing the disc.
ā€“ Risk of dust inhalation from materials that when cut, can be harmful.
Replacing cables or plugs
If the mains cable becomes damaged, it must be replaced with a special mains cable available from the
manufacturer or the manufacturerā€™s customer service. Dispose of old cables or plugs immediately after
replacing them with new ones. It is dangerous to connect the plug of a loose cable to a socket.
Using extension cables
Only use an approved extension cable suitable for the power input of the machine. The minimum
conductor size is 1.5 mm2. When using a cable reel always unwind the reel completely.
Safety instructions for abrasive cutting-off operations
a) The guard provided with the tool must be securely attached to the power tool and positioned
for maximum safety, so the least amount of wheel is exposed towards the operator. Position
yourself and bystanders away from the plane of the rotating wheel. The guard helps to protect
operator from broken wheel fragments and accidental contact with wheel.
b) Use only bonded reinforced or diamond cut-off wheels for your power tool. Just because an
accessory can be attached to your power tool, it does not assure safe operation.
c) The rated speed of the accessory must be at least equal to the maximum speed marked on the
power tool. Accessories running faster than their rated speed can break and ī›€y apart.
d) Wheels must be used only for recommended applications. For example: do not grind with the
side of cut-off wheel. Abrasive cut-off wheels are intended for peripheral grinding, side forces applied to
these wheels may cause them to shatter.
e)ī˜ƒAlwaysī˜ƒuseī˜ƒundamagedī˜ƒwheelī˜ƒī›€angesī˜ƒthatī˜ƒareī˜ƒofī˜ƒcorrectī˜ƒdiameterī˜ƒforī˜ƒyourī˜ƒselectedī˜ƒwheel.
Proper wheel ī›€anges support the wheel thus reducing the possibility of wheel breakage.
f) Do not use worn down reinforced wheels from larger power tools. Wheels intended for a larger
power tool are not suitable for the higher speed of a smaller tool and may burst.
g) The outside diameter and the thickness of your accessory must be within the capacity rating of
your power tool. Incorrectly sized accessories cannot be adequately guarded or controlled.
h)ī˜ƒTheī˜ƒarbourī˜ƒsizeī˜ƒofī˜ƒwheelsī˜ƒandī˜ƒī›€angesī˜ƒmustī˜ƒproperlyī˜ƒīšætī˜ƒtheī˜ƒspindleī˜ƒofī˜ƒtheī˜ƒpowerī˜ƒtool. Wheels
and ī›€anges with arbour holes that do not match the mounting hardware of the power tool will run out of
balance, vibrate excessively and may cause loss of control.
i) Do not use damaged wheels. Before each use, inspect the wheels for chips and cracks. If power
tool or wheel is dropped, inspect for damage or install an undamaged wheel. After inspecting and
installing the wheel, position yourself and bystanders away from the plane of the rotating wheel
and run the power tool at maximum no load speed for one minute. Damaged wheels will normally
break apart during this test time.
j) Wear personal protective equipment. Depending on application, use face shield, safety goggles
or safety glasses. As appropriate, wear dust mask, hearing protectors, gloves and shop apron
capable of stopping small abrasive or workpiece fragments. The eye protection must be capable of
stopping ī›€ying debris generated by various operations. The dust mask or respirator must be capable of
īšæltrating particles generated by your operation. Prolonged exposure to high intensity noise may cause
hearing loss.
k) Keep bystanders a safe distance away from work area. Anyone entering the work area must
wear personal protective equipment. Fragments of workpiece or of a broken wheel may ī›€y away and
cause injury beyond immediate area of operation.
l) Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfaces only, when performing an operation where
the cutting accessory may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Cutting accessory contacting a
ā€œliveā€ wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool ā€œliveā€ and could give the operator an electric
shock.
m) Position the cord clear of the spinning accessory. If you lose control, the cord may be cut or
snagged and your hand or arm may be pulled into the spinning wheel.
n) Never lay the power tool down until the accessory has come to a complete stop. The spinning
wheel may grab the surface and pull the power tool out of your control.
o) Do not run the power tool while carrying it at your side. Accidental contact with the spinning
accessory could snag your clothing, pulling the accessory into your body.
p) Regularly clean the power toolā€™s air vents. The motorā€™s fan will draw the dust inside the housing and
excessive accumulation of powdered metal may cause electrical hazards.
q)ī˜ƒDoī˜ƒnotī˜ƒoperateī˜ƒtheī˜ƒpowerī˜ƒtoolī˜ƒnearī˜ƒī›€ammableī˜ƒmaterials. Sparks could ignite these materials.
r) Do not use accessories that require liquid coolants. Using water or other liquid coolants may result
in electrocution or shock.
Further safety instructions for abrasive cutting-off operations
Kickback and related warnings
Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched or snagged rotating wheel. Pinching or snagging causes rapid
stalling of the rotating wheel which in turn causes the uncontrolled power tool to be forced in the direction
opposite of the wheelā€™s rotation at the point of the binding.
For example, if an abrasive wheel is snagged or pinched by the workpiece, the edge of the wheel that is
entering into the pinch point can dig into the surface of the material causing the wheel to climb out or kick
out. The wheel may either jump toward or away from the operator, depending on direction of the wheelā€™s
movement at the point of pinching. Abrasive wheels may also break under these conditions.
Kickback is the result of power tool misuse and/or incorrect operating procedures or conditions and can
be avoided by taking proper precautions as given below.
a)ī˜ƒMaintainī˜ƒaī˜ƒīšærmī˜ƒgripī˜ƒonī˜ƒtheī˜ƒpowerī˜ƒtoolī˜ƒandī˜ƒpositionī˜ƒyourī˜ƒbodyī˜ƒandī˜ƒarmī˜ƒtoī˜ƒallowī˜ƒyouī˜ƒtoī˜ƒresistī˜ƒ
kickback forces. Always use auxiliary handle, if provided, for maximum control over kickback or
torque reaction during start-up. The operator can control torque reactions or kickback forces, if proper
precautions are taken.
b) Never place your hand near the rotating accessory. Accessory may kickback over your hand.
c) Do not position your body in line with the rotating wheel. Kickback will propel the tool in direction
opposite to the wheelā€™s movement at the point of snagging.
d) Use special care when working corners, sharp edges etc. Avoid bouncing and snagging the
accessory. Corners, sharp edges or bouncing have a tendency to snag the rotating accessory and cause
loss of control or kickback.
e) Do not attach a saw chain, woodcarving blade, segmented diamond wheel with a peripheral gap
greater than 10 mm or toothed saw blade. Such blades create frequent kickback and loss of control.
f) Do not ā€œjamā€ the wheel or apply excessive pressure. Do not attempt to make an excessive depth
of cut. Overstressing the wheel increases the loading and susceptibility to twisting or binding of the wheel
in the cut and the possibility of kickback or wheel breakage.
g) When wheel is binding or when interrupting a cut for any reason, switch off the power tool
and hold the power tool motionless until the wheel comes to a complete stop. Never attempt
to remove the wheel from the cut while the wheel is in motion otherwise kickback may occur.
Investigate and take corrective action to eliminate the cause of wheel binding.
h) Do not restart the cutting operation in the workpiece. Let the wheel reach full speed and
carefully re-enter the cut. The wheel may bind, walk up or kickback if the power tool is restarted in the
workpiece.
i) Support panels or any oversized workpiece to minimize the risk of wheel pinching and kickback.
Large workpieces tend to sag under their own weight. Supports must be placed under the workpiece near
the line of cut and near the edge of the workpiece on both sides of the wheel.
j) Use extra caution when making a ā€œpocket cutā€ into existing walls or other blind areas. The
protruding wheel may cut gas or water pipes, electrical wiring or objects that can cause kickback.
WARNING! When using mains-powered tools, basic safety precautions, including the
following,ī˜ƒshouldī˜ƒalwaysī˜ƒbeī˜ƒfollowedī˜ƒtoī˜ƒreduceī˜ƒriskī˜ƒofī˜ƒīšære,ī˜ƒelectricī˜ƒshock,ī˜ƒpersonalī˜ƒinjuryī˜ƒ
and material damage.
Read the whole manual carefully and make sure you know how to switch the tool off in an emergency, before
operating the tool.
Save these instructions and other documents supplied with this tool for future reference.
Before you connect the equipment to the mains supply make sure that the data on the rating plate are
identical to the mains data.
This tool is double insulated therefore no earth wire is required.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by an electrician or a power tool repairer in order to avoid
a hazard.
Note: Double insulation does not take the place of normal safety precautions when operating this tool. The
insulation system is for added protection against injury resulting from a possible electrical insulation failure
within the tool.
Using an Extension Lead
Always use an approved extension lead suitable for the power input of this tool. Before use, inspect the
extension lead for signs of damage, wear and ageing. Replace the extension lead if damaged or defective.
When using an extension lead on a reel, always unwind the lead completely. Use of an extension lead not
suitable for the power input of the tool or which is damaged or defective may result in a risk of īšære and electric
shock.
