IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be
followed to reduce the risk of ο¬re, electric shock, and/or injury to persons
including the following:
ξξ Read all instructions.
ξξ Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
ξξ To protect against ξre, electric shock and injury to persons, do not immerse cord,
plugs or machine in water or other liquid.
ξξ Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
ξξ Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before
putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
ξξ Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance
malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the
nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair or adjustment.
ξξ The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance
manufacturer may result in ξre, electric shock or injury to persons.
ξξ Your appliance is designed for domestic use only.
ξξ Do not use outdoors.
ξξ Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
ξξ Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
ξξ Always attach plug to appliance ξrst, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To
disconnect, turn any control to the βoffβ position, then remove plug from wall
outlet.
ξξ Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
ξξ Only use the kettle to heat water. Never heat other liquids in the kettle.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
ξξ Your kettle should only be used with its lid locked, with the base and the anti-scale
ξlter supplied.
ξξ Never touch the ξlter or the lid when the water is boiling.
ξξ Never open the lid when the water is boiling.
ξξ Scalding may occur if the lid is removed.

This machine is intended for household use only. Any servicing other than cleaning
and user maintenance should be performed by the nearest authorized KRUPS
Service Center. Visit our website at www.krupsusa.com www.krups. in the USA or
ca in Canada or contact your respective countryβs Consumer Service department for
the service center nearest to you. To reduce the risk of ξre or electric shock, do not
attempt to disassemble the machine.
Repair should be done at an authorized KRUPS Service Center only.
SHORT CORD INSTRUCTIONS
A A short power cord or a detachable power cord is provided to reduce the risks of
becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord accidentally.
B Longer detachable power cords or extension cords are available and may be
used if care is exercised in their use.
C If a long detachable power cord or an extension cord is used:
1) the marked electrical rating of the detachable power cord or extension cord
should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance.

ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
ξξ Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
ξξ Your appliance is designed for residential use only.
ξξ It is not intended to be used in the following applications, and the guarantee will
not apply for: staff kitchen areas in shops, ofξces and other working environments;
farm houses; by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
bed and breakfast type environments.
ξξ This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge,
unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the
appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
ξξ Only plug the kettle into a grounded power outlet. Check that the voltage on the
rating plate of the appliance corresponds to that of your electrical installation.
ξξ Keep the kettle and its power cord away from any source of heat, from any wet or
slippery surface and away from sharp corners.
ξξ Never use the appliance in a bathroom or close to a water source.
ξξ Never use the kettle when your hands or feet are wet.
ξξ Place the kettle and its power cord well to the back of the work surface.
ξξ Always unplug the power cord immediately if you observe any anomaly during
operation.
ξξ Never pull on the power cord to remove it from the wall outlet.
ξξ Always remain vigilant when the appliance is on, and in particular be careful of the
steam coming out of the spout which is very hot.
ξξ Also be careful as the body of the stainless steel kettle becomes very hot during
operation. Only touch the handle of the kettle.
ξξ Never leave your hand or the power cord on the hot parts of the appliance.
ξξ Never leave the kettle connected to its base during ξlling, pouring, cleaning or
moving.
ξξ Always use the ξlter.
ξξ Never move the kettle when it is in operation.
ξξ Protect the appliance from dampness and freezing conditions.
ξξ The warranty covers manufacturing defects and residential use only. Any breakage
or damage resulting from a failure to comply with these instructions is not covered
by the warranty.
ξξ Any supply connection error will void the warranty.
ξξ The warranty does not cover kettles that fail to operate or operate badly due to a
failure to perform descaling operations.
2) If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a
grounding type 3-wire cord.
3) the longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter
where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over accidentally. The
appliance may have a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To
reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to ξt into a polarized
outlet only one way. If the plug does not ξt fully into the outlet, reverse the
plug. If it still does not ξt, contact a qualiξed electrician. Do not attempt to
modify the plug in anyway.
