nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair or adjustment.
ξThe use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance
manufacturer may result in ξre, electric shock or injury to persons.
ξYour appliance is designed for domestic use only.
ξDo not use outdoors.
ξDo not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
ξDo not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
ξAlways attach plug to appliance ξrst, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To
disconnect, turn any control to the βoffβ position, then remove plug from wall
outlet.
ξDo not use appliance for other than intended use.
ξOnly use the kettle to heat water. Never heat other liquids in the kettle.

ξYour kettle should only be used with its lid locked and its base.
ξNever touch the lid when the water is boiling.
ξNever open the lid when the water is boiling.
ξScalding may occur if the lid is removed.

ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
ξChildren should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
ξYour appliance is designed for residential use only.
ξIt is not intended to be used in the following applications, and the guarantee
will not apply for: staff kitchen areas in shops, ofξces and other working
environments; farm houses; by clients in hotels, motels and other residential
type environments; bed and breakfast type environments.
ξThis appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with
reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning
use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
ξOnly plug the kettle into a grounded power outlet. Check that the voltage on the
rating plate of the appliance corresponds to that of your electrical installation.
ξKeep the kettle and its power cord away from any source of heat, from any wet
or slippery surface and away from sharp corners.
ξNever use the appliance in a bathroom or close to a water source.
ξNever use the kettle when your hands or feet are wet.
ξPlace the kettle and its power cord well to the back of the work surface.
ξAlways unplug the power cord immediately if you observe any anomaly during
operation.
ξNever pull on the power cord to remove it from the wall outlet.
ξAlways remain vigilant when the appliance is on, and in particular be careful of
the steam coming out of the spout which is very hot.
ξNever leave your hand or the power cord on the hot parts of the appliance.
ξNever leave the kettle connected to its base during ξlling, pouring, cleaning or
moving.
ξNever move the kettle when it is in operation.
SHORT CORD INSTRUCTIONS
A A short power cord or a detachable power cord is provided to reduce the risk of
becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord accidentally.
B Longer detachable power cords or extension cords are available and may be used if
care is exercised in their use.
C If a long detachable power cord or an extension cord is used:
1 the marked electrical rating of the detachable power cord or extension cord should
be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance.
2 If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding
type 3-wire cord.
3 the longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter where
it can be pulled on by children or tripped over accidentally. The appliance may
have a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of
electric shock, this plug is intended to ξt into a polarized outlet only one way. If the
plug does not ξt fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not ξt, contact
a qualiξed electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in anyway.
