Portable CD Player
BATTERY OPERATION (BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED)
Your CD player operates on two (2) AA size alkaline batteries. Open the CD cover and insert the
batteries in the battery compartment following the polarity diagram located inside.
RECHARGEABLE BATTERY OPERATION (BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED)
You can operate the CD player with two AA rechargeable batteries. For new or exhausted
rechargeable batteries, we recommend that you replace the batteries with new ones (Refer to
battery manufacturerâs guide).
When operating the CD player with an AC adapter and if non-rechargeable batteries are in the
compartment, please make sure to set the âchargeâ switch to the âoffâ position to avoid damaging
the player.
1. Open the battery compartment cover and insert the rechargeable batteries (2 x AA) in the
battery compartment following the polarity diagram located inside.
BOTH BATTERIES MUST BE RECHARGEABLE NiCd TYPES OR THE BATTERIES MAY
EXPLODE OR LEAK.
2. Plug in an AC adapter and slide the âCharge switchâ to the âOnâ position to start charging.
AC ADAPTOR NOT INCLUDED
Unplug the AC adapter after charging.
DO NOT CHARGE THE BATTERIES FOR MORE THAN 24 HOURS OR MORE THAN THE
RECOMMENDED TIME. OVERCHARGING MAY DETERIORATE THE PERFORM ANCE OF THE
RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES.
If operating times decrease dramatically after the batteries have been recharged properly, purchase
new rechargeable NiCd batteries.
Do not attempt to recharge alkaline batteries. This may cause leakage and damage to the CD player.
Do not mix alkaline batteries with rechargeable batteries. When operating the player with an AC
adapter and non-rechargeable batteries in the compartment, please make sure to set the âChargeâ
switch to the âOffâ position to avoid damaging the CD player (switch on bottom side).
MONEY SAVING TIPS:
Due to the nature of CD technology, the CD player uses power even when it is turned off. To extend
the batteriesâ life, use an adapter for indoor operation or where power is supplied. Use battery power
only when the player has no source of mains electricity.

DBBS FUNCTION
The Dynamic Bass Boost System (DBBS) enhances the low frequency (Bass) response of the
output. Set the volume to low level and set the DBBS switch to the âONâ position to turn this function
on.
Note: Some CDâs with DBBS may exceed the bass response capacity and can cause distortion. Do
not play DBBS in high volume as this may cause damage to the headphones and more importantly,
to your hearing.
HOLD FUNCTION
The âHOLDâ function prevents any unwanted function changes during âPLAYâ or âSTOPâ mode.
Slide the âHOLDâ switch to the arrow direction to turn the function âONâ. No other function buttons
operate in the âHOLDâ mode except the DBBS function.
CAUTION
Hearing experts advise against the constant use of personal stereos played at high volume.
Constant high volume use can lead to hearing loss. If you experience ringing in the ears or hearing
loss, discontinue use and seek medical advice.
HANDLING DISCS
To remove the disc from its storage case, press down on the centre of the case and lift the disc out.
Hold it carefully by the edges as shown below.
Insert the disc into the CD player with the label of the disc facing upwards.
Gently wipe the disc using a soft cloth from the centre to the outer direction to remove dust,
fingerprints or any other particles on the disc surface. Never use chemicals such as record sprays,
anti-static sprays, benzene or thinners to clean the CD. These chemicals can damage the disc
surface permanently.
To avoid serious scratches on the CD, keep them in their cases after each use. Scratches can
cause the laser pick-up to skip during playback.
Do not place stickers or write anything on the disc.
MAINTENANCE AND CARE
âą Read the instruction manual before operating this CD player
âą Do not expose the CD player to high temperatures or humidity. Use a dampened soft cloth to
clean it. Do not use strong detergents or solvents to clean the player
