Before Using Your Dishwasher
Install where dishwasher is protected from the elements.
Protect against freezing to avoid possible rupture of fill valve.
Such ruptures are not covered by the warranty. See “Storing”
in the “Dishwasher Care” section for winter storage
information.
Install and level dishwasher on a floor that will hold the
weight, and in an area suitable for its size and use.
Remove all shipping plugs from hoses and connectors (such
as the cap on the drain outlet) before installing. See
Installation Instructions for complete information.
Tip Over Hazard
Do not use dishwasher until completely installed.
Do not push down on open door.
Doing so can result in serious injury or cuts.
Electrical Shock Hazard
Electrically ground dishwasher.
Connect ground wire to green ground connector
in terminal box.
Do not use an extension cord.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in
death, fire, or electrical shock.

START-UP GUIDE
Before using your dishwasher, remove all packaging materials.
Read this entire Use and Care Guide. You will find important
safety information and useful operating tips.
Using Your New Dishwasher
1. Rinse aid is essential for good drying. Be sure to fill the
dispenser before you use your new dishwasher. Each filling
will last about 1 to 3 months depending on your usage.
2. Scrape large food soil and hard items (toothpicks or bones)
from dishes. You do not need to pre-rinse your dishes.
3. Properly load the dishwasher. (See “Dishwasher Loading.”)
Load dishes with space in between so water will reach the
soiled surfaces. Make sure nothing prevents the spray arm(s)
from spinning freely.
4. Add detergent. Always use a quality brand detergent. (See
“Dishwasher Use.”)
5. Run hot water at the sink nearest your dishwasher until the
water is hot. (See “Dishwasher Performance Tips.”) Turn off
water.
6. Press the desired cycle and option selections. (See
“Dishwasher Use.”)
7. Press START. The selected cycle and option lights will flash
once.
8. Push door firmly closed. The door latches automatically.
NOTE: If the dishwasher is not started before closing the
door, the cycle and options will revert to the last cycle and
options completed.

LOADING
Loading Suggestions
Remove leftover food, bones, toothpicks and other hard
items from the dishes. To conserve water, energy and save
time, it is not necessary to rinse dishes before putting them
into the dishwasher. The wash module removes food particles
from the water. The module contains a chopping device
which will reduce the size of food items.
NOTE: If hard items such as fruit seeds, nuts, and egg shells
enter the wash module, you might hear chopping, grinding,
crunching, or buzzing sounds. These sounds are normal
when hard items enter the module. Do not let metallic items
(such as pot handle screws) get into the wash module.
Damage can occur.
It is important for the water spray to reach all soiled surfaces.
Load dishes so they are not stacked or overlapping if
possible. For best drying, water must be able to drain from all
surfaces.
Load heavy pots and pans carefully. Heavy items can dent
the stainless steel interior of the door if they are dropped or
bumped.
Make sure pot lids and handles, pizza pans, cookie sheets,
etc., do not interfere with the spray arm rotation.
Conserve water, energy and save time over hand rinsing by
running a rinse cycle to keep dishes moist if you do not plan
to wash them soon. Foods such as eggs, rice, pasta,
spinach, and cooked cereals may be hard to remove if they
are left to dry over a period of time.
Quiet operating tips
To avoid thumping/clattering noises during operation:
Make sure lightweight load items are secured in the racks.
Make sure pot lids and handles, pizza pans, cookie sheets,
etc., do not touch interior walls or interfere with the rotation of
the spray arm.
Load dishes so they do not touch one another.
NOTE: For built-in models, keep sink drain plugs closed during
dishwasher operation to prevent noise transfer through drains.

Loading Top Rack
The top rack is designed for cups, glasses, and smaller items.
Many items, up to 9 in. (22 cm), fit in the top rack. (See
recommended loading patterns shown.)
NOTE: The features on your dishwasher rack may vary from the
drawings shown.
Place items so open ends face down for cleaning and
draining.
Load glasses and cups in top rack only. The bottom rack is
not designed for glasses and cups. Damage can occur.
Place cups and glasses in the rows between tines. Placing
them over the tines can lead to breakage and water spots.
China, crystal, and other delicate items must not touch each
other during dishwasher operation. Damage may occur.
Load plastic items in the top rack only. Only plastic items
marked “dishwasher safe” are recommended.
Load plastic items so the force of the spray does not move
them during the cycle.
To avoid chipping, do not let stemware touch other items.
Small bowls, pans, and other utensils can be placed in the
top rack. Load bowls in the center section for best stability.
FLEXI-FOLD DOWNflexible tines
The row of tines on the left-hand side of the top rack can be
adjusted to make room for a variety of dishes.
To adjust the flexible tines
1. Grasp the tip of the tine that is in the tine holder.
2. Gently push the tine out of the holder.
3. Lay the tines down, toward the center of the rack.
SURE-HOLD® utility shelf
Fold down the extra shelf on the left-hand or right-hand side of
the top rack to hold additional cups, stemware or long items such
as utensils and spatulas.
FLEXI-SPLITdivided tines
The row of tines on the right-hand side of the top rack can be
adjusted to make room for a variety of dishes.
To adjust the front half
1. Grasp the tip of the tine that is in the tine holder.
2. Gently push the tine out of the tine holder.
3. Move the tines to the left to make room for larger dishes.
Move the tines to the right to wedge plastic or other
lightweight items against the side of the rack.

To adjust the back half
1. Grasp the tip of the tine that is in the tine holder.
2. Gently push the tine out of the holder.
3. Lay the tines down, toward the center of the rack.
SURE-HOLD® light item clips
The light item clips hold lightweight plastic items such as cups,
lids, or bowls in place during washing.
To move a clip
1. Pull the clip up and off the tine.
2. Reposition the clip on another tine.
Adjustable 2-position top rack
You can raise or lower the top rack to fit tall items in either the top
or bottom rack. Raise the top rack to accommodate items up to
9 in. (22 cm) in the top rack and 13 in. (33 cm) in the bottom rack,
or lower the top rack to accommodate items up to 11 in. (28 cm)
in both the top and bottom racks. Adjusters are located on each
side of the top rack.
To raise the top rack
Lift the rack on either, or both, sides until the rack is level.
NOTE: The top rack adjusters MUST be level.
To lower the top rack
Press both rack adjusters and slide the rack back to its
original position.
Removable Top Rack
The removable top rack allows you to wash larger items such as
stock pots, roasters, and cookie sheets in the bottom rack.
IMPORTANT: Remove dishes prior to removing upper rack from
dishwasher.
To remove the top rack
1. Pull the rack forward slightly to access track stops.
2. To release, press the button of the track stop finger grip and,
pull track stop out of the track.
3. After removing both track stops, pull rack out.
To replace the top rack
1. Place the rollers on each side of the rack into the rack tracks
and push the rack back.
2. While pushing the button in the center of the track stop finger
grip, insert track stop into rack and slide until it locks into
place. Release the button.
3. Pull on the track stop to make sure it is locked into place.
4. Repeat on the other side.
Loading Bottom Rack
The bottom rack is designed for plates, pans, casseroles, and
utensils. Many items, up to 13 in. (33 cm) tall, fit in the bottom
rack. (See recommended loading patterns shown.)
NOTE: The features on your dishwasher rack may vary from the
drawings shown.
Do not load glasses, cups, or plastic items in the bottom
rack. Load small items in the bottom rack only if they are
secured in place.
Load plates, soup bowls, etc., between tines.
Overlap the edges of plates for large loads.
Load soup, cereal, and serving bowls in the rack in a variety
of ways depending upon their size and shape. Load bowls
securely between the rows of tines. Do not nest bowls
because the spray will not reach all surfaces.

Load cookie sheets, cake pans, and other large items at the
sides and back. Loading such items in front can keep the
water spray from reaching the detergent dispenser.
Secure heavily soiled cookware face down in the rack.
Make sure pot handles and other items do not stop rotation
of the spray arm(s). The spray arm(s) must move freely.
Do not load items between the bottom rack and the side of
the dishwasher tub because they might block the water inlet
opening.
CULINARY CADDY® utensil basket
Use the utensil basket to hold specialty cooking utensils (wooden
spoons, spatulas, and similar items), or overflow silverware items.
The basket hangs on the bottom rack in the right-hand corner.
Load the basket while it is on the bottom rack or remove the
basket for loading on a counter or table.
NOTE: Spin the spray arms. Be sure items in the basket do not
stop the rotation of the spray arms.
Removable rack inserts
Your dishwasher is shipped with 3 removable rack inserts. (See
illustration below.) The large, medium and small removable rack
inserts allow you to adjust the rack for the type of load you are
washing. This is useful when washing a variety of dishes, pots
and pans, or roasters.
The large rack insert
allows you to wash a number of large plates, platters, and
trays. Removing this insert allows you to wash larger items
such as casseroles, large mixing bowls, stock pots, and
roasters.

The medium rack insert,
when in the position as shipped, allows you to wash a
number of medium plates, and bowls. With the small insert
removed, you can move this insert forward in the rack to
wash another row of large plates.
The small rack insert
allows you to wash smaller plates, saucers, and bowls. When
you remove this insert, you have more flexibility when moving
the medium insert forward or back to wash larger items.
To remove large and medium inserts
1. Pull handle out to the right and lift up to release.
2. Lift insert out of rack.
To remove small insert
1. Pull out toward the back of rack and lift up to release.
2. Lift insert out of rack.
NOTE: It will be easier to install the inserts if you remove the
silverware basket from the rack.
To install large insert
1. Place the large insert end legs under the 2nd from the right
wire as shown below.
2. Make sure that the three hooks on the back of the insert are
placed over the back wire in the bottom of the rack.
3. Push down on insert until handle fits against outer rack edge.
4. When center tab under handle locks in under the middle side
rack wire, the insert is in place. (See illustration.)

To install medium insert
1. Place the medium insert end legs under the 2nd from the
right wire as shown below.
IMPORTANT: Make sure that the curved wires, on the bottom
of the insert, fit over a wire in the bottom of the rack as
shown.
2. Push down on insert until handle fits against outer rack edge.
3. When center tab under handle locks in under the middle side
rack wire, the insert is in place. (See illustration.)
To install small insert
1. Place small insert in front of rack so that the feet on the back
of the insert hook under the 2nd wire from the front, and the
curved front edge of the insert is aligned with the center wire
on the front side of the rack. (See illustration.)
2. Push down on insert until handle fits against outer rack edge.
3. When center tab under handle locks in under the middle side
rack wire, the insert is in place. (See illustration.)
SURE-HOLD® mesh sack
This sack hangs on the front of the bottom rack. Use it to hold
small items that could otherwise “fly” around inside the
dishwasher during a cycle.
Loading Silverware Basket
Load the silverware basket while it is in the bottom rack or take
the basket out for loading on a counter or table. (See
recommended loading pattern shown.)
NOTE: Unload or remove the basket before unloading the racks
to avoid spilling water droplets on the silverware.
Load items with covers down, using the separators, to
prevent silverware nesting.
Place small items such as baby bottle caps, jar lids, corncob
holders, etc., in the section(s) with hinged cover(s). Close the
cover to hold small items in place.
When covers are up, mix items in each section of the basket
with some pointing up and some down to avoid nesting.
Spray cannot reach nested items.
IMPORTANT: Always load sharp items (knives, skewers, etc.)
pointing down.
NOTES:
Do not load silver or silver-plated silverware with stainless
steel. These metals can be damaged by contact with each
other during washing.
Some foods (such as salt, vinegar, milk products, fruit juices,
etc.) can pit or corrode silverware. Run a rinse cycle if you do
not have a full load to wash immediately.

DISHWASHER USE
Detergent Dispenser
The detergent dispenser has 2 sections. The smaller Pre-Wash
section empties detergent into the dishwasher when you close
the door.
The larger Main Wash section automatically empties detergent
into the dishwasher during the wash. (See the “Cycle Selection
Charts.”)
Use automatic dishwashing detergent only. Other detergents
can produce excessive suds that can overflow out of the
dishwasher and reduce washing performance.
Add detergent just before starting a cycle.
Store tightly closed detergent in a cool, dry place. Fresh
automatic dishwasher detergent results in better cleaning.
NOTE: Do not use detergent with a rinse cycle.
Filling the dispenser
1. If the dispenser cover is closed, open the cover by pushing
the cover latch.
2. Fill the Main Wash section with detergent. See “How much
detergent to use.”
3. Fill the Pre-Wash section, if needed.
4. Close the dispenser cover.
It is normal for the cover to open partially when dispensing
detergent.
NOTE: Use both sections for cycles with 2 washes. Use only the
main wash section for cycles with 1 wash. See the “Cycle
Selection Charts” for more details.
How much detergent to use
The amount of detergent to use depends on the hardness of
your water and the type of detergent. If you use too little,
dishes won’t be clean. If you use too much in soft water,
glassware will etch.
If you do not know your water hardness, call the Customer
Interaction Center and ask for a free water hardness test
strip, Part Number 4171690.
Different brands of dishwasher detergent have different
amounts of phosphorus for softening water. If you have hard
water and use a detergent with a phosphorous content of
less than 8.7%, you might need to use more detergent, or use
a detergent with a phosphorous content higher than 8.7%.
NOTE: Fill amounts shown are for standard powdered detergent.
Amounts may vary if you use liquid or concentrated powdered
detergent. Follow instructions on the package when using liquid
dishwasher detergent or concentrated powdered detergent. If
you use detergent tablets, use one whole tablet in the Main Wash
section only, for all loads and water hardness levels.

Rinse Aid Dispenser
Rinse aids prevent water from forming droplets that can dry as
spots or streaks. They also improve drying by allowing water to
drain off of the dishes during the final rinse by releasing a small
amount of the rinse aid into the rinse water. Your dishwasher is
designed to use a liquid rinse aid. Do not use a solid or bar-type.
Filling the dispenser
The rinse aid dispenser holds 4.8 oz (145 mL) of rinse aid. Under
normal conditions, this will last for about three months. Rinse aid
is released through an opening in the dispenser. When latched
properly, the cover remains closed. The cover should be opened
only when refilling the dispenser. You do not have to wait until the
dispenser is empty to refill it. Try to keep it full, but be careful not
to overfill it.
1. Make sure the dishwasher door is fully open.
2. Open the dispenser by pushing the cover latch.
3. Add rinse aid until the indicator window looks full.
4. Clean up any spilled rinse aid with a damp cloth.
5. Close the cover.
NOTE: The cover latch clicks when the cover is closed and
latched.
Rinse aid setting
The amount of rinse aid released into the final wash can be
adjusted. The factory setting is at 2. For most water conditions,
set the adjuster to 1 or 2. If there are rings or calcium (hard water)
spots on dishes, try a higher setting.
To adjust the setting
Open the dispenser cover. Turn the adjuster inside the dispenser
to the desired setting.
Dishwasher Performance Tips
Hot water dissolves and activates the dishwashing detergent.
Hot water also dissolves grease on dishes and helps glasses dry
spot-free. Is the water temperature too low? For best
dishwashing results, water should be 120°F (49°C) as it enters
the dishwasher. Loads may not wash as well if the water
temperature is too low. Water that is too hot can make some soils
harder to remove and cause certain detergent ingredients not to
function. If your water heater is located far from the dishwasher, it
may be necessary to run the hot water at the faucet closest to the
dishwasher to minimize the amount of cold water in the water
line.
To check water temperature
1. Run hot water at the faucet closest to your dishwasher for at
least 1 minute.
2. Place a candy or meat thermometer in a glass measuring
cup.
3. Check the temperature on the thermometer as the water is
running into the cup.
To save water, energy and time, do not rinse dishes before
putting them into the dishwasher.
Choose the cycle that describes the most difficult soil in your
dish load.
Do not worry about mixed loads. Any item that is dishwasher
safe can be washed using any cycle.
Use a delay feature (on some models) to run your dishwasher
during off-peak hours. Local utilities recommend avoiding
heavy usage of energy at certain times of day.
During the summer, run your dishwasher at night. This
reduces daytime heat buildup in the kitchen.
Use the heated dry option for best drying performance.
Always use rinse aid.
Use cycles or options that add extra heat to the wash or rinse
portion of the cycle for better performance.
Run your dishwasher with full loads. Run a rinse cycle after
meals until the dishwasher is full.
If your home is equipped with a water softener, you may want
to avoid starting the dishwasher during the regeneration of
the softener, as this may contribute to poor wash
performance.

Cycle Selection Charts
Select the wash cycle and options desired. Or press START to
repeat the same cycle and options as the previous cycle.
NOTE: If the last cycle you completed was a rinse cycle, the
dishwasher will run the last full wash cycle and options that you
selected when you press Start.
If the power is off or the door is open for an extended period
of time, the Start button memory will default to the Normal
cycle with heated drying.
If you do not run the dishwasher daily, close the door to
maintain memory.
A “” shows what steps are in each cycle.
Temperatures indicate where extra heat is added.
Water usage is shown in U.S. gallons/liters.
This model meets the ENERGY
STAR® guidelines for energy
efficiency.
Cycle time includes dry time. An asterisk ( * ) by the cycle time
indicates the cycle time might be longer depending on the
temperature of the water entering the dishwasher.
A small amount of water is run through the pump to remove soil
particles between the main wash and final rinse.
*If the incoming water temperature is less than the
recommended temperature or food soils are heavy, the cycle will
automatically compensate by adding time, heat, and water as
needed.
NOTE:
The sensor in your dishwasher monitors the soil level. Cycle
time and/or water usage can vary from the numbers above as
the sensor adjusts the cycle for the best wash performance.
Baked On Cookware
Use this cycle for hard-to-clean, baked-on, cookware and
harder than normal water conditions.
Use both detergent dispenser sections.

Canceling a Cycle
1. Carefully open the door slightly to stop the cycle. Wait for the
spraying action to stop before opening the door to access the
control panel.
2. Press CANCEL. Cancel glows.
3. Close the door. The dishwasher starts a 2-minute drain (if
needed). Let the dishwasher drain completely.
To stop the drain
You can press CANCEL again to stop the drain. Remember to
drain the dishwasher before starting a new cycle.
To clear the indicators
Press CANCEL before starting the dishwasher to clear all options
and cycles.
Changing a Cycle or Setting
During the first minute of a cycle
1. Open the door.
2. Press a new cycle and/or options.
3. Check the detergent dispensers. They must be filled properly
for the new cycle.
4. Close the door. The dishwasher resumes the new cycle
and/or option after a 5-second pause.
After the first minute of a cycle
1. Carefully open the door slightly to stop the cycle. Wait for the
spraying action to stop before opening the door to access the
control panel.
2. Press CANCEL. Cancel glows.
3. Close the door. Your dishwasher starts a 2-minute drain (if
needed). Let the dishwasher drain completely.
4. Select a new cycle and/or options.
5. Press START.
6. Check the detergent dispensers. They must be filled properly
for the new cycle.
7. Close the door.
Adding Items During a Cycle
You can add an item anytime before the main wash starts. Open
the door and check the detergent dispenser. If the cover is still
closed, you can add items.
To add items
1. Carefully open the door slightly to stop the cycle. Wait for the
spraying action to stop before opening the door.
2. Open the door. If the detergent dispenser cover is still closed,
add the item.
3. Close the door firmly until it latches. The dishwasher resumes
the cycle after about a 5-second pause.
Option Selections
You can customize your cycles by pressing an option. If you
change your mind, press the option again to turn the option off.
Select a different option if desired.
You can change an option anytime before the selected option
begins. For example, you can press an unheated drying option
any time before drying begins.
Press START to repeat the same cycle and options as the
previous wash cycle.
NOTE: If the last cycle you completed was a rinse cycle, when
you press START, the dishwasher runs the last full wash cycle
and options.
Hi-Temp Scrub
Select this option to heat the water during parts of the cycle, and
add a rinse. Higher water temperatures and an extra rinse helps
clean tough soils. Hi-Temp Scrub, with the Baked On Cookware
cycle, raises the water temperature in the prewash and main
wash. Hi-Temp Scrub, with the Normal cycle, raises the water
temperature in the main wash.
This option adds heat, water and wash time to a cycle.
NOTE: Hi-Temp Scrub is an option with the Baked On Cookware
and Normal cycles. Always use Hi-Temp Scrub if you have hard
water.
SANI RINSE™ Option
Select this option to raise the water temperature in the final rinse
to approximately 155°F (68°C). The SANI RINSE™ Option adds
heat and time to the cycle. This high temperature rinse sanitizes
your dishes and glassware in accordance with NSF/ANSI
Standard 184 for Residential Dishwashers. Certified residential
dishwashers are not intended for licensed food establishments.
NOTE: Baked On Cookware automatically uses this option. SANI
RINSE™ is an option with the Normal cycle. Only these
sanitization cycles have been designed to meet the NSF/ANSI
requirements.
ENERGY SAVER Dry System
Select this option to dry dishes without heat. ENERGY SAVER™
Dry System is useful if you do dishes at night and unload in the
morning.
The dishes take longer to dry and some spotting can occur. For
best drying, always use a liquid rinse aid. Some items (such as
plastics) may need towel drying.
NOTE: Rinse Only automatically uses this option. ENERGY
SAVER™ Dry System is an option with all other cycles.
Control Lock
Use Control Lock to prevent unintended use of the dishwasher.
You can also use the Control Lock feature to prevent unintended
cycle or option changes during a cycle.
When Control Lock is lit, all buttons are disabled.
NOTE: The dishwasher door can be opened while the controls
are locked.
To turn on the Lock
Press and hold ENERGY SAVER™ Dry control for 4 seconds.
Control Lock glows.
If you press any pad while your dishwasher control is locked, the
light flashes 3 times.
To turn off the Lock
Press and hold ENERGY SAVER™ Dry control for 4 seconds. The
light turns off.

Cleaning
Cleaning the exterior
In most cases, regular use of a soft, damp cloth or sponge and a
mild detergent is all that is necessary to keep the outside of your
dishwasher looking nice and clean.
Cleaning the interior
Hard water minerals can cause a white film to build up on the
inside surfaces, especially just beneath the door area.
Do not clean the dishwasher interior until it has cooled. Wear
rubber gloves. Do not use any type of cleanser other than
dishwasher detergent because it may cause foaming or sudsing.
To clean interior
Make a paste with powdered dishwasher detergent on a damp
sponge and clean.
OR
Use liquid automatic dishwasher detergent and clean with a
damp sponge.
OR
See the vinegar rinse procedure in “Spotting and filming on
dishes” in “Troubleshooting.”
NOTE: Run a Normal cycle with detergent after cleaning the
interior.

Drain Air Gap
Check the drain air gap anytime your dishwasher isn’t draining
well.
Some state or local plumbing codes require the addition of a
drain air gap between a built-in dishwasher and the home drain
system. If a drain is clogged, the drain air gap protects your
dishwasher from water backing up into it.
The drain air gap is usually located on top of the sink or
countertop near the dishwasher. To order a drain air gap call your
local dealer, or in the U.S.A., call the Customer Interaction Center
and ask for Part Number 300096.
NOTE: The drain air gap is an external plumbing device that is
not part of your dishwasher. The warranty provided with your
dishwasher does not cover service costs directly associated with
the cleaning or repair of the external drain air gap.
To clean the drain air gap
Clean the drain air gap periodically to ensure proper drainage of
your dishwasher. Follow the cleaning instructions provided by the
manufacturer. With most types, you lift off the chrome cover.
Unscrew the plastic cap. Then check for any soil buildup. Clean if
necessary.
Storing
Storing for the summer
Protect your dishwasher during the summer months by turning
off the water supply and power supply to the dishwasher.
Winterizing your dishwasher
Protect your dishwasher and home against water damage due to
freezing water lines. If your dishwasher is left in a seasonal
dwelling or could be exposed to near freezing temperatures, have
your dishwasher winterized by authorized service personnel.
TROUBLESHOOTING
First try the solutions suggested here and possibly avoid
the cost of a service call...
Dishwasher is not operating properly
Dishwasher does not run or stops during a cycle
Is the door closed tightly and latched?
Is the right cycle selected? Refer to the “Cycle Selection
Charts.”
Is there power to the dishwasher? Has a household fuse
blown or circuit breaker tripped?
Has the motor stopped due to an overload? The motor
automatically resets itself within a few minutes. If it does not
restart, call for service.
Is the water shutoff valve (if installed) turned on?
It is normal for certain cycles to repeatedly pause for several
seconds during the main wash.
Dishwasher will not fill
Is the overfill protection float able to move up and down
freely? Press down to release.
Dishwasher seems to run too long
Is the water supplied to the dishwasher hot enough? The
dishwasher runs longer while heating water. Refer to the
“Dishwasher Performance Tips” section.
A delay automatically occurs in some wash and rinse cycles
until the water reaches the proper temperature.
Water remains in the dishwasher
Is the cycle complete?
Detergent remains in the covered section of the
dispenser
Is the cycle complete?
Is the detergent lump-free? Replace detergent if necessary.
White residue on the front of the access panel
Was too much detergent used? Refer to the “Detergent
Dispenser” section.
Is the brand of detergent making excess foam? Try a different
brand to reduce foaming and eliminate buildup.
Odor in the dishwasher
Are dishes washed only every 2 or 3 days? Run a rinse cycle
once or twice a day until you have a full load.
Does the dishwasher have a new plastic smell? Run a vinegar
rinse as described in “Spotting and filming on dishes” later in
this Troubleshooting guide.
Condensation on the kitchen counter (built-in models)
Is the dishwasher aligned with the countertop? Moisture from
the vent in the dishwasher console can form on the counter.
Refer to the Installation Instructions for more information.
Dishes are not completely clean
Food soil left on the dishes
Is the dishwasher loaded correctly? Refer to the “Dishwasher
Loading” section.
Did you choose the cycle that describes the most difficult soil
in your dishwasher? If you have some items with heavier
soils, use a heavier cycle.
Is the water temperature too low? For best dishwashing
results, water should be 120°F (49°C) as it enters the
dishwasher. Refer to the “Dishwasher Performance
Tips” section.
Did you use the correct amount of fresh detergent? Use
recommended dishwasher detergents only. Refer to the
“Detergent Dispenser section. Never use less than 1 tb (15 g)
per load. Detergent must be fresh to be effective. Store
detergent in a cool, dry area. Heavy soil and/or hard water
generally require extra detergent.
Is detergent caked in dispenser? Use fresh detergent only. Do
not allow detergent to sit for several hours in a wet dispenser.
Clean dispenser when caked detergent is present.
Is the pump or spray arm clogged by labels from bottles and
cans? If you wash bottles and cans in your dishwasher, check
for labels clogging the pump or spray arm.

Is the home water pressure high enough for proper
dishwasher filling? Home water pressure should be 20 to 120
psi (138 to 828 kPa) for proper dishwasher fill. A booster
pump on the water supply can be added if pressure is
too low.
Are high suds slowing the wash arm? Never use soap or
laundry detergents. Use recommended dishwasher
detergents only.
Spots and stains on dishes
Spotting and filming on dishes
Is your water hard or is there a high mineral content in your
water? Conditioning the final rinse water with a liquid rinse
aid helps eliminate spotting and filming. Keep the rinse aid
dispenser filled. Always use a high-temp option. If your water
hardness is 13 grains or above, it is strongly recommended
that you install a home water softener. If you do not wish to
drink softened water, have the softener installed onto your
hot water supply.
Is the water temperature too low? For best dishwashing
results, water should be 120°F (49°C) as it enters the
dishwasher. Refer to the “Dishwasher Performance
Tips” section.
Did you use the correct amount of effective detergent? Use
recommended dishwasher detergents only. Refer to the
“Detergent Dispenser” section. Never use less than 1 tb (15 g)
per load. Detergent must be fresh to be effective. Store
detergent in a cool, dry area. Heavy soil and/or hard water
generally require extra detergent.
Is the home water pressure high enough for proper
dishwasher filling? Home water pressure should be 20 to 120
psi (138 to 828 kPa) for proper dishwasher fill. A booster
pump on the water supply can be added if pressure is too
low.
NOTE: To remove spots and film from dishes, try a white
vinegar rinse. This procedure is intended for occasional use
only. Vinegar is an acid, and using it too often could damage
your dishwasher.
1. Wash and rinse dishes. Use an air-dry or an energy saving
dry option. Remove all silverware or metal items.
2. Put 2 cups (500 mL) white vinegar in a glass or
dishwasher-safe measuring cup on the bottom rack.
3. Run the dishwasher through a complete washing cycle
using an air-dry or an energy saving dry option. Do not
use detergent. Vinegar will mix with the wash water.
Silica film or etching (silica film is a milky, rainbow-
colored deposit; etching is a cloudy film)
Sometimes there is a water/chemical reaction with certain
types of glassware. This is usually caused by some
combination of soft or softened water, alkaline washing
solutions, insufficient rinsing, overloading the dishwasher,
and the heat of drying. It might not be possible to prevent the
problem, except by hand washing.
To slow this process use a minimum amount of detergent but
not less than 1 tb (15 g) per load. Use a liquid rinse aid and
underload the dishwasher to allow thorough rinsing. Silica
film and etching are permanent and cannot be removed. Do
not use heated drying.
White spots on cookware with nonstick finish
Has the dishwasher detergent removed cookware
seasoning? Reseason cookware after washing in the
dishwasher.
Brown stains on dishes and dishwasher interior
Does your water have high iron content? Rewash dishes
using 1-3 tsp (5-15 mL) of citric acid crystals added to the
covered section of the detergent dispenser. Do not use
detergent. Follow with a Normal wash cycle with detergent. If
treatment is needed more often than every other month, the
installation of an iron removal unit is recommended.
Black or gray marks on dishes
Are aluminum items rubbing dishes during washing?
Disposable aluminum items can break down in the
dishwasher and cause marking. Hand wash these items.
Remove aluminum markings by using a mild abrasive cleaner.
Orange stains on plastic dishes or dishwasher interior
Are large amounts of tomato-based foods on dishes placed
in the dishwasher? It may be necessary to use a stain
removal product to remove stains from your dishwasher.
Stains will not affect dishwasher performance.
Dishes do not dry completely
Dishes are not dry
Did you load your dishwasher to allow proper water
drainage? Do not overload. Refer to the “Dishwasher
Loading” section. Use a liquid rinse aid to speed drying.
Are the plastics wet? Plastics often need towel drying.
Is the rinse aid dispenser empty? Refer to the “Rinse Aid
Dispenser” section.
Did you use an air-dry or energy-saving dry option? Use a
heated drying option for dryer dishes.
Dishes are damaged during a cycle
Chipping of dishes
Did you load the dishwasher properly? Load the dishes and
glasses so they are stable and do not strike together from
washing action. Minimize chipping by moving the rack in and
out slowly.
NOTE: Antiques, feather-edged crystal, and similar types of
china and glassware might be too delicate for automatic
dishwashing. Wash by hand.
Noises
Grinding, grating, crunching or buzzing sounds
A hard object has entered the wash module (on some
models). When the object is ground up, the sound should
stop.

inflammable, ne pas fumer ni utiliser de flamme nue
pendant cette p riode.é
CONSERVEZ CES INSTRUCTIONS
Enlever la porte ou le couvercle du compartiment de
lavage lorsque vous remplacez ou mettez au rebut un
vieux lave-vaisselle.

Installer le lave-vaisselle dans un endroit à ’ l abri des
intempéries. Protéger lappareil contre le gel pour éviter une
rupture possible du robinet de remplissage. De telles ruptures
ne sont pas couvertes par la garantie. Voir ” àRemisage la
section Entretien du lave-vaisselle pour la préparation du
remisage en hiver.
Installer et niveler le lave-vaisselle sur un plancher qui pourra
en supporter le poids, et dans un espace convenable pour
ses dimensions et son utilisation.

raccords (tel que le capuchon sur louverture de vidange)

Pour un lave-vaisselle relié à la terre, branché
avec un cordon :
Le lave-vaisselle doit tre reliê é à la terre. En cas
d'un mauvais fonctionnement ou d'une panne, la
mise lectrique à terre réduira le risque d'un choc é
en fournissant le moins de r sistance pour le é
courant quipélectrique. Le lave-vaisselle est é é
d'un cordon avec un conducteur pour relier les
appareils e à la terre. La fiche doit être branché
sur une prise appropri e, install e et relié é ée à la
terre conform ment aux codes et ré èglements
locaux.
AVERTISSEMENT : La connexion
incorrecte du conducteur pour relier les appareils
à é la terre peut causer le risque de choc lec-
trique. V rifier avec un lectricien comp tent ou é é é

EN MARCHE
Avant dutiliser le lave-vaisselle, enlever tous les matériaux
demballage. Lire ce guide dutilisation et dentretien au complet.
Vous y trouverez des renseignements de sé écurit importants
ainsi que des conseils dutilisation utiles.
Utilisation de votre nouveau
lave-vaisselle
1. L’ çagent de rin age est essentiel pour un bon séchage. Veiller
à remplir le distributeur avant dutiliser le nouveau lave-
vaisselle. Chaque remplissage durera de 1 à 3 mois selon
lusage.
2. Ôter les particules alimentaires et articles durs (cure-dents ou
os) de la vaisselle. Il nest pas nécessaire de prérincer la
vaisselle.
3. Bien charger le lave-vaisselle. (Voir Chargement du lave-
vaisselle.) Espacer la vaisselle pour que leau puisse
atteindre les surfaces sales. Sassurer que rien n’ êemp che le
ou les bras daspersion de tourner librement.
4. Ajouter le détergent. Toujours utiliser un détergent de bonne
qualité. (Voir Utilisation du lave-vaisselle.)
5. Laisser leau couler du robinet le plus près du lave-vaisselle
jusqu’à ce quelle soit chaude. (Voir Conseils de
performance pour le lave-vaisselle.) Fermer le robinet.
6. Appuyer sur les boutons de programmes et doptions
désirés. (Voir Utilisation du lave-vaisselle.)
7. Appuyer sur START (mise en marche). Le programme et les
options sé électionn s clignoteront une fois.
8. Bien fermer la porte. Le verrou de la porte sengage
automatiquement.
REMARQUE : Si le lave-vaisselle nest pas mis en marche
avant de fermer la porte, le programme et les options
retourneront au dernier programme et options complé ét s.
CHARGEMENT DU
LAVE-VAISSELLE
Suggestions de chargement
Enlever de la vaisselle les restes alimentaires, os, cure-dents
et autres articles durs. Pour conserver leau, l’énergie et
gagner du temps, il nest pas nécessaire de rincer la vaisselle
avant de la placer dans le lave-vaisselle. Le module de lavage
sépare les particules alimentaires de leau. Le module
contient un dispositif de hachage qui réduit la grosseur des
particules alimentaires.
REMARQUE : Si des articles durs tels que graines de fruits,
noix et coquilles doeufs pé èn trent dans le module de lavage,
il est possible que lon entende des bruits de hachage,
broyage ou bourdonnement. Ces bruits sont normaux
lorsque des articles durs pé èn trent dans le module. Éviter
que des articles métalliques (tels que des vis de poignées de
casserole) pé èn trent dans le module de lavage. Des
dommages peuvent en résulter.
Il est important que le jet deau atteigne toutes les surfaces
sales.
Si possible, charger la vaisselle de telle sorte quelle ne soit
pas empilée ou en chevauchement. Pour le meilleur résultat
de séchage, leau doit pouvoir s’écouler de toutes les
surfaces.

Tablette utilitaire SURE-HOLD
®
Rabattre la tablette supplémentaire sur les cô ét s gauche et droit
du panier supérieur pour y placer des tasses supplémentaires,
verres à pied ou de longs articles tels que des ustensiles et
spatules.
Tiges sectionnées FLEXI-SPLIT
La rangée de tiges du cô ét droit du panier supérieur peut être
ajustée pour donner plus despace pour divers articles de
vaisselle.
Réglage de la moitié avant
1. Saisir la pointe de la tige qui se trouve dans le support de la
tige.
2. Pousser doucement la tige à ’ é l ext rieur du support de la tige.
3. Déplacer les tiges vers la gauche pour faire de la place pour
les articles de vaisselle plus gros. Déplacer les tiges vers la
droite pour coincer des articles légers en plastique ou autres
contre le cô ét du panier.
Réglage de la moitié

1. Saisir la pointe de la tige qui se trouve dans le support de la
tige.
2. Pousser doucement la tige à ’ é l ext rieur du support de la tige.
3. Abaisser la rangée de tiges, vers le centre du panier.
Attaches pour articles légers SURE-HOLD
®
Ces attaches maintiennent les articles légers en plastique tels
que les tasses, couvercles ou bols en place pendant le lavage.
Pour déplacer une attache
1. Tirer lattache vers le haut pour la séparer de la tige.
2. Réinstaller lattache sur une autre tige.
Panier supérieur ré àglable 2 positions
On peut monter ou baisser le panier supérieur pour quil
convienne à des articles de haute taille, soit dans le panier
supérieur, soit dans le panier inférieur. Monter le panier supérieur
pour accommoder des articles jusqu’à 9 po (22 cm) dans le
panier supérieur, et jusqu’à 13 po (33 cm) dans le panier inférieur,
ou baisser le panier supérieur pour accommoder des articles
jusquà 11 po (28 cm) dans les paniers supérieur et inférieur. Les
régleurs sont situés de chaque cô é ét du panier sup rieur.
Pour monter le panier supérieur
Soulever le panier dun cô ét ou des deux cô ét s jusqu’à ce que le
panier soit à niveau.
REMARQUE : Les régleurs du panier supérieur DOIVENT être à
niveau.
Pour baisser le panier supérieur
Appuyer sur les deux ré
gleurs du panier et faire glisser le panier
à
sa position originale.
Panier supérieur amovible
Le panier supérieur amovible permet de laver des articles plus
grands tels que casseroles, rôtissoires, et tôles à biscuits, dans le
panier inférieur.
IMPORTANT : Enlever la vaisselle avant denlever le panier
supérieur du lave-vaisselle.
Pour enlever le panier supérieur
1. Retirer le panier lé èg rement vers lavant pour accéder aux
butées des glissières.
2. Pour libérer le panier, appuyer sur le bouton de la prise pour
les doigts de la butée de la glissiè
re et tirer la buté
e hors de la
glissière.
3. Après avoir enlevé les deux butées, retirer le panier.
Pour replacer le panier supérieur
1. Placer les roulettes de chaque cô ét du panier dans les
glissières du panier, et pousser le panier jusquau fond.
2. En poussant le bouton au centre de la prise pour les doigts
de la butée du panier, insérer la butée dans le panier et la
glisser jusqu'à ce qu'elle s'enclenche en place. Relâcher
le bouton.
3. Tirer sur la butée pour sassurer quelle est bien en place.

Insertions amovibles pour le panier
Votre lave-vaisselle est expé édi avec 3 insertions amovibles pour
le panier. (Voir lillustration ci-dessous.) Les grandes, moyennes
et petites insertions amovibles du panier vous permettent
dajuster le panier pour le type de charge à laver. Cet
arrangement peut être utile lors du lavage dune varié ét de
vaisselle, casseroles et poêlons, ou plats de rôtissage.
La grande insertion pour le panier
vous permet de laver quelques assiettes, plats de service et
plateaux de grande dimension. L’ èenl vement de cette
insertion vous permet de laver de plus gros articles tels que
casseroles, gros bols à é m langer, marmites et plats de
rôtissage.
Linsertion moyenne pour le panier,
lorsqu
elle est en position d
expédition, vous permet de laver
quelques assiettes et bols de moyenne dimension. Lorsque
la petite insertion est retirée, il est possible de déplacer la
moyenne insertion vers lavant dans le panier pour laver une
autre rangée de grandes assiettes.
La petite insertion pour le panier
vous permet de laver des assiettes plus petites, des
soucoupes et des bols. Lorsque vous enlevez cette insertion,
vous avez plus de possibilités pour laver des articles plus
gros en dé çpla ant linsertion moyenne vers lavant ou vers
larrière.

1. Tirer la poignée vers la droite et soulever pour dégager.
2. Soulever linsertion hors du panier.

REMARQUE : Il sera plus facile dinstaller les insertions si vous
enlevez le panier à couverts du panier.
Pour installer la grande insertion
1. Placer les pieds d é éextr mit de la grande insertion sous la 2e
broche en partant de la droite tel quillustré ci-dessous.
2. Veiller à ce que les trois crochets sur l’ èarri re de linsertion
soient placés par-dessus la broche arrière dans le fond du
panier.
3. Appuyer sur linsertion jusqu’à ce que la poignée se place
contre le bord extérieur du panier.
4. Lorsque la patte centrale sous la poignée senclenche sous la
broche latérale du milieu du panier, linsertion est en place.

contre le bord extérieur du panier.
3. Lorsque la patte centrale sous la poignée senclenche sous la
broche latérale du milieu du panier, linsertion est en place.

Pour installer la petite insertion
1. Placer la petite insertion à ’ l avant du panier de telle sorte que
les pieds à ’ è l arri re de linsertion saccrochent sous la
deuxième broche à partir de lavant, et que le bord courbé à
lavant de linsertion soit aligné avec la broche centrale à
lavant du panier. (Voir lillustration.)
2. Appuyer verticalement sur linsertion jusqu’à ce que la
poignée se place contre le bord extérieur du panier.
3. Lorsque la patte centrale sous la poignée senclenche sous la
broche latérale du milieu du panier, linsertion est en place.

Sac en filet SURE-HOLD®
Ce sac se place à ’ l avant du panier inférieur. Lutiliser pour tenir
les petits articles qui pourraient autrement se dé àplacer
lintérieur du lave-vaisselle pendant un programme.
Chargement du panier à couverts
Charger le panier à
couverts alors qu
il est dans le panier inférieur
ou le retirer pour le charger sur un comptoir ou sur une table. (Voir
le schéma de chargement recommandé ci-dessous.)
REMARQUE : Toujours décharger ou enlever le panier avant de
décharger le reste du lave-vaisselle afin d’éviter que des gouttes
deau tombent sur les couverts.
Charger les articles avec les couvercles vers le bas et utiliser
les séparateurs pour empêcher les couverts de simbriquer.
Placer les petits articles tels que les capsules de biberons,
couvercles de bocaux, poigné à ées pis de maïs, etc. dans la
ou les sections avec couvercle(s) articulé(s). Fermer le
couvercle pour maintenir les petits articles en place.
Lorsque les couvercles sont relevés, assortir les articles dans
chaque section du panier, certains vers le haut et dautres
vers le bas afin que les articles ne simbriquent pas. Le jet
deau ne peut atteindre les articles imbriqués.
IMPORTANT : Toujours charger les articles acé ér s (couteaux,
brochettes, etc.) pointés vers le bas.
REMARQUES :
Ne pas charger dustensiles en argent ou plaqués argent avec
des articles en acier inoxydable. Ces métaux peuvent être
endommagés sils se touchent durant le lavage.
Certains aliments (tels que le sel, le vinaigre, les produits
laitiers, les jus de fruits, etc.) peuvent causer des piqûres ou
de la corrosion sur les couverts. Effectuer un programme de
rinçage si la charge nest pas assez pleine pour un lavage
immédiat.
UTILISATION DU
LAVE-VAISSELLE
Distributeur de détergent
Le distributeur de détergent comporte 2 sections. La section plus
petite du prélavage vide le détergent dans le lave-vaisselle lors
de la fermeture de la porte.
La section plus grande pour le lavage principal vide
automatiquement le détergent dans le lave-vaisselle au cours du
programme de lavage. (Voir les Tableaux de sélection de
programmes.)
Nutiliser que du détergent pour lave-vaisselle automatique.
Les autres détergents peuvent produire une mousse
excessive qui risque de déborder du lave-vaisselle et réduire
la performance de lavage.
Verser le détergent juste avant de mettre le lave-vaisselle en
marche.
Conserver le détergent bien fermé dans un lieu sec et frais.
Pour lobtention de meilleurs résultats, un détergent à lave-
vaisselle automatique frais est meilleur.
REMARQUE : Ne pas utiliser de détergent avec un programme
de rinçage.

Distributeur dagent de rinçage
Un agent de rinçage empêche leau de former des gouttelettes
qui peuvent sé
cher en laissant des taches ou coulé
es. Il am
éliore
également le séchage en permettant à ’ l eau de s’écouler de la
vaisselle au cours du rinçage final en libérant une petite quantité
de lagent de rinçage dans leau de rinçage. Votre lave-vaisselle
est conçu pour utiliser un agent de rinçage liquide. Ne pas utiliser
un agent solide ou en forme de pain.
Remplissage du distributeur
La capacité du distributeur dagent de rinçage est de
4,8 oz (145 mL). Dans les conditions normales, cette quantité
devrait durer environ trois mois. L ç é éagent de rin age est lib r par
une ouverture dans le lave-vaisselle. Lorsquil est enclenché
correctement, le couvercle reste fermé. On ne devrait ouvrir le
couvercle que pour remplir le distributeur. Il nest pas nécessaire
dattendre que le distributeur soit vide avant de le remplir.
Essayer de le garder plein, mais il ne faut pas le remplir
excessivement.
1. Sassurer que la porte du lave-vaisselle est complètement
ouverte.
2. Ouvrir le distributeur en appuyant sur le loquet du couvercle.
3.
Verser lagent de rinçage jusqu tre indicatrice ’à
ce que la fen

apparaisse pleine.
4. Essuyer tout agent de rinçage renversé avec un chiffon
humide.
5. Fermer le couvercle.
REMARQUE : Le loquet du couvercle fait un bruit sec lorsque
le couvercle est fermé et enclenché.
Réglage de la quantité dagent de rinçage
Il est possible de régler la quantité ’ d agent de rinçage libé ér lors
du lavage final. Le réglage de lusine est à 2. Pour la plupart des
conditions d é ’eau, choisir le r glage 1 ou 2. S il y a des traînées ou
des taches de calcium (eau dure) sur la vaisselle, essayer un
r .églage plus élevé
Modification du réglage
Ouvrir le couvercle du distributeur, puis tourner le dispositif
dajustement à lintérieur du distributeur au réglage dé ésir .
Conseils de performance pour
le lave-vaisselle
L’ éeau chaude dissout et active le d tergent à vaisselle. Leau
chaude dissout également la graisse sur la vaisselle et contribue
au séchage des verres sans taches. La température de l'eau est-
elle trop basse? Pour les meilleurs résultats de lavage, l'eau
devrait être à 120°F (49°C) à son entrée dans le lave-vaisselle.
Les charges peuvent ne pas être lavées aussi bien si la
température de leau est trop basse. Leau trop chaude peut
rendre certaines saletés plus difficiles à enlever et empêcher
certains ingrédients du détergent de faire effet. Si le chauffe-eau
se trouve loin du lave-vaisselle, il peut être nécessaire de faire
couler l
eau chaude au robinet le plus prè
s du lave-vaisselle pour
minimiser la quantit dé ’eau froide dans la canalisation deau.
Contrôle de la tempé ’rature de l eau
1. Laisser couler leau chaude par le robinet le plus proche du
lave-vaisselle pendant au moins 1 minute.
2. Placer un thermomètre à viande ou à confiserie dans une
tasse à mesurer en verre.
3. Vérifier la température sur le thermomètre pendant que leau
coule dans la tasse.
Pour économiser de leau, de l’énergie et du temps, ne pas
rincer la vaisselle avant de la placer dans le lave-vaisselle.
Choisir le programme qui correspond aux saletés les plus
difficiles de votre charge.
Ne pas sinquiéter des charges mixtes; tout article lavable au
lave-vaisselle peut être lavé dans nimporte quel programme.
Utiliser la caractéristique de mise en marche diffé ér e (sur
certains modèles) pour faire fonctionner votre lave-vaisselle
en dehors des heures de pointe. Les services publics locaux
recommandent d’é
viter l
emploi intense d’énergie à certaines
heures du jour.
Durant l’été, faire fonctionner le lave-vaisselle en soirée pour
réduire laccumulation de chaleur dans la cuisine durant la
journée.
Utiliser loption de séchage chauffé pour la meilleure
performance de séchage. Toujours utiliser un agent de
rinçage.
Utiliser les programmes ou les options qui apportent un
supplément de chaleur à la portion de lavage ou de rinçage
du programme pour une meilleure performance.
Utiliser le lave-vaisselle avec des charges complètes. Utiliser
un programme de rinçage après les repas jusqu’à ce que le
lave-vaisselle soit plein.
Si votre domicile est équipé ’ d un adoucisseur d eau, vous
voudrez peut-être éviter de mettre le lave-vaisselle en marche
durant la rééég n ration de ladoucisseur, laquelle pourrait
entraîner une mauvaise performance de lavage.

Tableaux de sélection de programmes
Choisir le programme et les options de lavage dé ésir s. Ou
appuyer sur START (mise en marche) pour ré ép ter le même
programme et la ou les mêmes options que dans le programme
pré éc dent.
REMARQUE : Si le dernier programme achevé é tait un rinçage,
le lave-vaisselle exécutera le dernier programme de lavage
complet et les options que vous avez choisies quand vous
appuyez sur Start.
Si lappareil est mis hors tension ou si la porte est ouverte
pendant une période prolongée, la mémoire du bouton Start
reviendra par défaut au programme Normal avec séchage à
chaud.
Lorsquon nutilise pas le lave-vaisselle tous les jours,
refermer la porte pour conserver les données en mémoire.

Utiliser ce programme pour les ustensiles difficiles à nettoyer
