4.1 Function
4.1.1 Functional principle
The VPPE... is intended for regulating pressure proportionally to a specified set-
point value. The main application lies in the option for replacing pressure regulat-
ors, which were previously set manually, with an electrically remote-controlled
controller, for example to have different machine parameters available quickly
and automatically. A built-in pressure sensor records the pressure at the working
port and compares this value with the setpoint value. If the actual value differs
from the setpoint value, the control valve is actuated until the output pressure
reaches the setpoint value.

5 Mounting
1. Place the VPPE-... as close to the consumer as possible. This improves control
precision and reduces response times.
2. Push two screws (M4) into the holes for lateral mounting or the holes for6
front mounting , max. tightening torque: 2Nm ( Fig.2).7è
3. Mount the VPPE-... in the intended position.
6 Installation
6.1 Pneumatic installation
1. Remove the covers from the supply ports.
2. Attach the tubing to the following ports ( Fig.2):è
Supply port 1
Air supply port 5
Operating medium
NOTICE!
Too much residual oil content in the compressed air will reduce the service life of
the valve.
When using organic oils (oils that are based on synthetic esters or native
esters, e.g.rapeseed oil methyl ester), the maximum residual oil content of
0.1mg/m³ ( Compressed air to ISO 8573-1:2010 [–:–:2]).è

6.2 Electrical installation
WARNING!
Risk of injury due to electric shock.
For the electrical power supply, use only PELV circuits in accordance with IEC
60204-1/EN 60204-1 (Protective Extra-Low Voltage, PELV).
Observe the general requirements of IEC 60204-1/EN60204-1 for PELV cir-
cuits.
Only use voltage sources that ensure a reliable electric separation from the
mains network in accordance with IEC 60204-1/EN 60204-1.
Use the following connection accessories ( 3 Further information): è
plug socket with cable or
plug socket with cable, pre-assembled.
This ensures that the specified degree of protection IP65 and EMC is achieved.
If a screened cable is used, earth the screen at the cable end which is more
distant from the VPPE.
NOTICE!
The device can also be earthed directly.
Use earth terminal .4
Use the following earthing accessories (included in the scope of delivery):
Self-tapping screw
Flat plug
Contact washer
Wire the VPPE-... in accordance with the plug pattern.

7 Commissioning
NOTICE!
Make sure that the VPPE-... is kept clear of high-frequency radiation
(e.g.from radio sets, mobile telephones or other devices that emit interfer-
ence).
Avoid increased tolerances of the output pressure (see specifications for the
EMC 11 Technical data).è
The VPPE-... interprets setpoint signals that are less than 0.1V as 0V. In this
case, the output pressure is set by activation of the exhaust valve at 0MPa.
Connect the VPPE-... with a setpoint value signal. The VPPE has a so-called
“differential input”. The setpoint value signal 0…10V is applied to contacts
2 and 4, whereby the lower potential must be connected to contact 2 and the
higher potential to contact 4.
Contact 2 (– setpoint value) can be connected to contact 3 (GND). However,
when using long cables, the setpoint value should be connected without con-
nection to earth (contact 3, GND).
Energise the VPPE-... with direct current (supply voltage UV = 24 V DC ± 10%).
Pressurise the VPPE-... to at least 0.1MPa higher input pressure than the
maximum desired output pressure. This sets an output pressure p2 propor-
tionate to it.
The following output pressure range is then allocated to the setpoint signal
range 0…10V:
Setpoint value signal range Output pressure range
0…10V 0…0.6MPa

8 Operation and use
NOTICE!
When switching off the VPPE-..., make sure that the setpoint voltage or set-
point current intensity is switched off first, then the supply pressure and
finally the supply voltage.
Observe the operating noises of the valve.
Noise Meaning
Quiet switching noises Normal control procedure
Loud switching noises Increased wear
Tab. 5
9 Maintenance and care
Clean the housing of the VPPE-... with a soft cloth only. The permitted clean-
ing medium is a mild detergent solution at max. 50°C.
