1 About this document
This document contains important information on the handling of pre-installed
units consisting of various combinations of process valve, semi-rotary drive, hand
lever, sensorbox, positioner, position indicator or pilot valve. Certain aspects of
use are described in other documents and must be observed

2 Safety
2.1 General safety instructions
–Only use the product in its original condition without unauthorised modifica-
tions.
–Only use the product if it is in perfect technical condition.
–Operate product only in completely mounted status.
Return to Festo
Hazardous substances can endanger the health and safety of personnel and
cause damage to the environment. To prevent hazards, the product should only be
returned upon explicit request by Festo.
–Consult your regional Festo contact.
–Complete the declaration of contamination and attach it to the outside of the
packaging.
–Comply with all legal requirements for the handling of hazardous substances
and the transport of dangerous goods.
Operation in potentially explosive areas
The pre-assembled unit KVZB/KDFP is an assembly of devices that have been
individually assessed for possible ignition hazards. An assessment of possible
ignition sources has demonstrated that the assembly has not resulted in the
formation of new ignition hazards.
When operating the unit in a potentially explosive area:
–Consider the assessment of very separate device. To do this, observe the
information on explosion prevention and protection in the user documentation
for the individual devices.
–Include the device in the system equipotential bonding.
2.2 Training of qualified personnel
Work on the product should only be conducted by qualified personnel.

5 Transport
–Protect product from mechanical stresses during transport.
–Do not remove packaging until it is at the installation location.
–Configure load handling equipment to lift the load properly.
6 Assembly
WARNING
Risk of injury if the product overturns or falls.
The product may weigh over 25 kg depending on the product version. Body parts
can be crushed or severed. In overhead installations, the result can be serious
head injuries.
β€’ Secure the product from overturning or falling with appropriate equipment.
1. Thread carrying straps under both sides of the flange mounting of the process
valve or semi-rotary drive to form a sling

2. Lift unit with suitable lifting equipment.
3. Move unit to mounting position.
4. Follow the sequence for mounting the unit:
–Mechanical Installation (mount the unit completely.)
–Pneumatic installation
–Electrical installation (note earthing.)
5. Remove load handling equipment only after mounting is complete.
6.1 When mounting with a bridge or shaft
WARNING
Risk of injury from moving parts at the flanged joint.
Exposed parts between drive and positioner can cause injuries.
β€’ Keep range of action of moving parts free.
β€’ Do not reach into the range of action of the flanged joint.
β€’ Wear suitable protective clothing (e.g. safety shoes, safety gloves).
7 Disassembly
1. Switch off the electrical power supply.
2. Switch off the compressed air supply.
3. Drain all piping and disconnect all lines.
4. Disassemble unit in reverse order of installation.
