GEMINI 1160RSD
Gemini 1160RSD is a remote control unit. Supplied with two coded transmitters it
has the ability to operate central locking, as well as offering panic switch, passive
arming and outlets for control sirens, vehicle's own horns and hazard lights.
It offers the following protections:
- the passenger compartment by pin switches and also voltage drop sensor.
- engine immobilisation obtained by the interruption of an electric circuit that
controls the engine.
It has also the following abilities:
- it controls all types of sirens or vehicle horns which are positive or negatively
switched.
- it can be connected to volumetric, vibration and anti-lifting sensors.
- it can be interfaced with automatic windows or roof closing units.
OPERATION: (For End User)
Pushing the BLACK button on the hand held transmitter will switch on the alarm
and operate the central locking.
The receiver is mounted inside the passenger compartment. The arming signal is
acknowledged by a single 3-seconds pulse on the hazard lights circuit.
Pushing the RED button on the hand held transmitter twice will switch the alarm
on with the Remote Sensor Disconnection (for example ultrasonic sensor). In
this case the alarm connection is acknowledged bu two pulses of the direction
indicator lights.
In both cases at the same time the engine immobilisation circuit will be activated.
There are different exit delay periods for each type of activation (see Table A)
before the alarm becomes armed.
After the arming periods have elapsed, any attempt to enter the vehicle will
instantly trigger the alarm. The siren will sound and the hazard lights will also
flash. This will continue for a period of 30 seconds and then the unit will switch off
and automatically re-set after a further 10 seconds. In case of continuous
triggering, the alarm condition will occur as shown in Table A.
The alarm can be de-activated at any time by operating the BLACK button of the
transmitter. The hazard lights will signal 3 off 1 second pulses if no alarm
conditions have occurred. If the alarm has been triggered, the hazard lights will
signal 5 off 1 second pulses (alarm has memory of an atempted "break-in").
If the passive arming has been activated, the alarm unit will arm itself after 15
seconds from the engine stopping and the last door or bonnet/boot/tailgate
closing, also the arming visual signal will operate. To obtain the central locking
closing, you must push the BLACK transmitter button within 20 seconds.
When the system is armed you can activate the panic alarm by
pressing the RED transmitter button. The siren and the hazard lights circuit will be
activated for 10 seconds. The emergency de-activator can be either a key switch
or a toggle switch. If a GEMINI 5025 electronic self-powered siren is used, its key
switch must be turned OFF to obtain the emergency alarm de-activation (it acts as
an over-ride switch).

PRE-INSTALLATION CHECKS: (For the Installer)
- Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and only re- connect after the
installation is complete.
- Remove the cover from the rear of the unit, these allow access to the SW2-
SW3. SW1 is located next to the connectors.
Arrange the central unit as follows:
a. SW1 in position A. Voltage drop sensor activated.
SW1 in position B. Voltage drop sensor isolated.
This sensor must be isolated if on the vehicle there are loads that can operate
once the ignition has been switched off (i.e. cooling fan).
b. SW2 in position A o B as shown in central locking diagrams.
c. SW3 in position A. Continous signal.
SW3 in position B. Intermittent signal. For connecting vehicle's own horn select
position B (intermittent signal).
d. To de-activate the passive arming function, cut the YELLOW- GREEN wire
loop.
WIRING INSTRUCTIONS -
Check that all wires of the harnesses are fitted in the correct positions on
the connectors (checking against alarm wiring diagrams).
1. POSITIVE POWER FEED. With the voltage drop sensor activated, the
RED wire must be connected to the interior light circuit at the fuse box.
If the voltage sensing is de-activated, the RED wire CAN be connected
to the main fuse box feed or directly to the positive terminal of the
battery. If a self-powered electronic siren (GEMINI 5025) is used the
RED wire of the remote unit must be connected to the RED wire of the
siren. DO NOT CONNECT THE RED WIRE OF THE SIREN TO
POSITIVE.
Use the 15 Amp fuse supplied in the kit.
2. NEGATIVE POWER FEED. Connect the BROWN wire to a stable body
earth. If possible use existing body earth points or battery negative
terminal.
3. IGNITION LIVE. Connect the YELLOW wire to a positive ignition feed.
This wire must be fed also whilst starting the engine.
It is important to connect this wire as it will prevent the alarm from
being operated with ignition on or engine running.
4. HAZARD LIGHTS. Locate left and right indicator wires and connect
one ORANGE wire to each using 5 A fuseholder as supplied.
5. ENGINE IMMOBILISATION. This function is obtained by locating either
engine starting or engine running circuit.
Refer to the vehicle workshop manual. Cut this wire, connect one side
to GREY wire and the other side to the WHITE wire. Remember to
connect the alarm YELLOW wire (see point c).
6. BONNET AND BOOT/TAILGATE PIN SWITCHES. If the existing pin
switches supply a negative signal, connect them to the GREEN wire. In
case there are no existing switches already fitted, use switches
supplied in the kit.
7. DOOR PIN SWITCHES. Connect the GREEN-BROWN wire to the
courtesy light negative feed, i.e. from pin switch it may be necessary to
connect all pin switches together. If so, you can use diodes.
If using passive arming facility, it will be necessary to connect GREEN-
BROWN wire to courtesy light negative feed.
8. SELF POWERED-SIREN. Connect the BLUE wire to the Gemini self-
powered siren BLUE wire.
9. SIRENS OR VEHICLE HORN. Depending if siren/horn is positively or
negatively switch, connect the YELLOW-BLACK wire to a positive
(through 30 A fuse supplied in the kit) or negative. Connect the BLACK
wire to the siren or horn.
If not using siren or horn, leave wires disconnected and insulate.
10.POSITIVE OUTLET WHEN ALARM IS ARMED. The PINK wire is a
positive outlet for use with the Gemini adaptors (i.e. Gemini 2244) also
for connecting to the flashing LED which is mounted where visable from
exterior of vehicle to indicate alarm is armed.
11.SENSOR CONNECTION. Connect the volumetric, vibration and anti-
lifting sensors to the 3-way connector to matching colour code. This
trigger circuit will not operate more than 3 times.
12.CENTRAL LOCKING. At this point you must check to see which type
of central locking is fitted to the car. An easy way to do this, is to try and
lock all doors from the passenger door lock. If it locks the driver's door,
there is an actuator fitted. If it does not, then there is no actuator in the
driver's door.
- ref. diagram N. 2 -
For cars already equipped with electrical central locking with an
actuator in the driver's door, and for vehicles with Gemini 2249/50
central locking kit fitted, follow Table B for its connections.
- ref. diagram N. 3 -
For cars already equipped with electro-pneumatic central locking with
an actuator in the driver's door.
- ref. diagram N. 4 -
For cars already equipped with electrical central locking with an
actuator in the driver's door and where the central locking is controlled
only trough an existing switch installed inside passenger compartment.
- ref. diagram N. 5 -
For cars already equipped with central locking without an actuator in the
driver's door a Gemini 2341 must be used.
- ref. diagram N. 6 -
For cars already equipped with central locking with a micro- switch and
not an actuator in driver's door (VW - Saab) remove the existing
microswitch and fit Gemini 2341 in its place.
13.TOGGLE OR KEY EMERGENCY SWITCHES. Install this device as
shown in diagram. For de-activation of the alarm and engine
immobilisation in emergency (these switches are not supplied in kit).
14.AERIAL. The BLACK aerial lead must be located in a non- metallic
area for best reception. It must not be coiled, cut or connected to body
earth. This would effect the performance drastically.
15.Reconnect the battery terminal. The alarm acknowledges this operation
as a disconnection re-connection of the battery, and for this reason will
arm itself and the exit delay time for all the inputs will be 5 seconds.
Proceed with test procedure.
