Blue ClarityLogic Button: press the blue button for direct access to a

Customer Care Representative.

Memory Buttons (M1-M10 and Emergency): for saved numbers (see MEMORY

STORAGE section for details).

SPKR (Speaker) Button: press SPKR to engage the speakerphone function;

press again to turn the feature off.

FLASH Button: use this button to engage the Call Waiting Caller ID functions

(feature provided by local phone company).

VOLUME Slider: move to right or left in order to increase or decrease the

volume of the incoming voice.

BOOST/OSA Button: press BOOST to engage the extra ampliﬁcation. In

BOOST OFF mode, the phone has a volume range of up to 16dB of ampliﬁcation.

In BOOST ON mode, the phone has a volume range of up to 50dB of ampliﬁcation.

When active, the BOOST button is backlit. Press BOOST again to turn off the

extra ampliﬁcation. Press and hold the button for three seconds to engage the OSA

function (to enhance the level of your voice). See OSA section for details.

NOTE: When OSA is enabled, the light at the top of the phone turns orange when

the phone is engaged in a call.

TONE Switch: use this switch to pick one of the four tone settings available.

RD/P (Redial/Pause) Button: use this button to redial the last number dialed (up

to 32 digits). When in programming mode, press this button to insert a two second

pause.

HOLD/PROGRAM Button: during a call, use this button to put the call

on hold; press the button again to release the call from hold. Use this button

to program the memory keys during idle state or during a call. (See MEMORY

STORAGE section for details.)

Low Battery Indicator: light turns on when the backup batteries are low.

Visual Ringer Lights: lights turn on and off when the phone rings.

Missed Call Light: light turns on when there was an unanswered call. (Active

when Missed Call switch is ON - located on bottom of phone.)

Voice Mail/Ringer/OSA Light: . Light turns on GREEN when there is a a

voicemail left with your voicemail feature (from local phone company). . Light b

turns RED when the ringer switch is in the OFF position. . Light turns ORANGE c

when the OSA feature is active.

(Ringer) TONE: press this button to choose the desired incoming ring tonality.

Choose one of the six available ring tones to select the most favorable ringer.

(Ringer) Volume +/-: press the keys to increase/decrease the volume of the

incoming ring.

(Ringer) ON/OFF switch: use this switch to turn the ringer on or off. When

the switch is set to OFF, the light at the top of the phone lights up RED.

Headset Port: insert a standard headset (2.5mm plug) to use instead of

handset.

Outgoing Speech Ampliﬁcation (OSA) Switch: use the switch to set the

level of the outgoing speech ampliﬁcation level. To enable/disable the OSA switch,

press and hold the BOOST/OSA button for three seconds (see OSA section).

Neckloop Port: insert a standard neckloop (mono, 3.5mm plug) to use with

your T-coil equipped hearing aid. We recommend the Clarity CE30 neckloop.

Boost Override Switch: set to ON if you wish for the BOOST function to be

enabled at the beginning of all calls.

Missed Call Switch: set to if you wish to have the Missed Call light ON

enabled.

Voice Mail Switch: set to if you wish for the light at the top of the ON

phone to turn GREEN when you have voicemail (service from your phone service

provider).

Tone/Pulse Switch: set this switch to the desired dialing method.

Talk Keypad Switch: set to if you wish to hear the numeric keys pressed ON

during dialing - both in handset and speakerphone modes. NOTE: “star” and

“pound” keys are not part of this feature.

BEDSHAKER Port: insert the optional bedshaker (sold separately). It will

vibrate to indicate incoming rings.

Install the backup batteries (optional) by removing the battery cover as shown

in Figure 1. Connect your telephone as shown in Figure 2.

Connect one end of the phone cord into the (square) port on LINE

the back of the phone; connect the other end of the phone cord into your wall

telephone outlet.

Connect one end of the (curly) handset cord into the handset jack on

the left side of your base; connect the other end of the handset cord into the

bottom of the handset. Place handset in cradle.

Connect the DC adapter cord into the (round) DC 9V 500mA port

on the back of your phone; plug the adapter into your wall’s electrical outlet.

When ﬁnished, lift handset to test. If you hear a dial tone, your telephone is

ready for use. If not, check all connections again.

1. Pull the handset hook out of the base and reverse its position so that

the hook points up and will hold the handset when you hang up. See

Figure 3.

2. Plug one end of the short ﬂat telephone line cord into the jack

marked located on the back of the telephone. Then run the LINE

cord through the groove on the back of the phone. Insert the tabs of

the mounting bracket into the slots in the back of the phone. Push the

mounting bracket in and down ﬁrmly until it snaps into place. Consult

Figure 4.

3. Plug the ﬂat telephone line cord into the wall plate jack, then align the

mounting bracket’s keyhole slots with the wall plate studs and slide the

base of the phone downward to secure it on the wall. See Figure 5.

BOOST FUNCTION - AMPLIFY INCOMING

SOUNDS

1. Press and hold the desired memory location (M1-M10 and

Emergency) to store the number. The phone will beep to

conﬁrm you are in memory programming mode. See Figure 10.

2. Enter the telephone number you wish to store (up to 31

digits). If no button is pressed within 30 seconds, the phone will

time out and go back to idle or talk mode.

3. Press the HOLD/PROGRAM button to save the desired

number. The phone will beep to conﬁrm the number has been

saved. See Figure 11.

4. To change a Memory location, reprogram using the same

procedure with the button to be changed.

1. While on a call, press the button to engage the BOOST

ampliﬁer. The XL40D has a BOOST button that controls the

loudness of the receiver. See Figure 6. Once the BOOST button

is pressed, an extra level of ampliﬁcation is added over the entire

range of the Volume Control. During a call, the BOOST button can

toggle the Clarity Power function on or off according to the user’s

needs. The BOOST button will reset automatically every time the

phone is hung up for at least ﬁve seconds. The BOOST light will

illuminate (blue) while the BOOST function is activated.

Warning: Volume may be at a high level. To protect

hearing, lower the Clarity Power Volume Control before

using the phone.

2. Adjust the VOLUME slider to achieve the desired sound

level (up to 50dB of ampliﬁcation). The Clarity Power Volume

Control adjusts the level of volume in the handset both in Boost or

non-Boost modes. The volume dial provides up to 16dB of volume

before the BOOST button is activated. Once the BOOST button is

pressed, the XL40D will provide up to 50dB of gain. See Figure 7.

3. Adjusting the TONE switch allows you to customize your

hearing experience. Since we all have different hearing preferences,

we suggest exploring each setting to ﬁnd the one most comfortable

for you. These four settings, along with our volume ampliﬁcation, are

part of the Digital Clarity Power (DCP™) technology. See Figure 8.

The available settings are:

1- Low frequency emphasis: best used to hear low pitched

sounds;

2 - Flat frequency response: best for hearing aid users;

3 - Clarity Power/High frequency emphasis response: best

used to hear high frequency sounds;

4 - Multi Band Compression with high frequency emphasis

response: best setting for speech intelligibility.

Boost Override

On the bottom of the XL40D, there is a Boost Override switch.

When this is set to ON the Boost function is automatically enabled

every time the phone is picked up. In standard use, when the Boost

Override switch is set to OFF, the Boost function will turn off after

the phone is hung up. Setting this switch to ON is suggested if all the

users of the phone need the ampliﬁcation. Setting this switch to OFF

is useful when people with varying hearing ability use the phone. See

Figure 9.

To dial the saved numbers:

1. In handset mode, lift the handset and press the appropriate

memory button.

2. In speakerphone mode, press the appropriate memory button

with the handset in the cradle.

If there is a power outage, the XL40D will maintain its full ampliﬁcation

for up to 48 hours with four AA alkaline backup batteries (not included).

The phone operates as a regular phone if there is no power or backup

batteries. In this case, the indicator lights, the loud ringer, the lighted

keypad and the ampliﬁcation will be disabled; you will still be able to

make and receive phone calls, but the extra ampliﬁcation will not be

enganged. We recommend installing batteries if you live in an area with

frequent power outages.

OUTGOING SPEECH AMPLIFICATION (OSA)

This function ampliﬁes your speech so it becomes louder to the

person on the other end of the call. To enable this function, press and

hold the button for three seconds (see Figure 12). BOOST/OSA

The phone beeps; the function can be enabled/disabled while on a

phone call or in standby mode.

To verify the function is active, lift the handset and check the light at

the top of the phone. If the light is ORANGE, the function is active. To

adjust the level of ampliﬁcation for your voice, use the switch on the

side of the phone labeled “Outgoing Speech Ampliﬁcation” (OSA). You

can choose between three levels: Low, Med and High (see Figure 13).

To return to the default setting for your voice volume level, press and

hold the button again for three seconds. You will hear BOOST/OSA

a beep conﬁrming that the function is disabled. To verify, the light at

the top of the phone should not be orange when you are on a call.

NOTE: In order to experience the best audio quality for both parties

during a call, we recommend you turn on this function if your

voice is too quiet. OSA is not active in speakerphone mode.

When using your telephone equipment, basic safety precautions

should always be followed to reduce the risk of ﬁre, electric shock

and injury to persons, including the following:

1. Read and understand all instructions.

2. Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the telephone.

3. Do not use this telephone near a bathtub, wash basin, kitchen sink

or laundry tub, in a wet basement, near a swimming pool or anywhere

else there is water.

4. Avoid using a telephone (other than a cordless type) during a

storm. There may be a remote risk of electrical shock from lightning.

5. Do not use the telephone to report a gas leak in the vicinity of the

leak.

6. Unplug this telephone from the wall outlets before cleaning. Do not

use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners on the telephone. Use a damp

cloth for cleaning.

7. Place this telephone on a stable surface. Serious damage and/or

injury may result if the telephone falls.

8. Do not cover the slots and openings on this telephone. This

telephone should never be placed near or over a radiator or heat

unless proper ventilation is provided.

9. Operate this telephone using the electrical voltage as stated on the

base unit or the owner’s manual. If you are not sure of the voltage in

your home, consult your dealer or local power company.

10. Do not place anything on the power cord. Install the telephone

where no one will step or trip on the cord.

11. Do not overload wall outlets or extension cords as this can

increase the risk of ﬁre or electrical shock.

12. Never push any objects through the slots in the telephone. They

can touch dangerous voltage points or short out parts that could

result in a risk of ﬁre or electrical shock. Never spill liquid of any kind

on the telephone.

13. To reduce the risk of electrical shock, do not take this phone

apart. Opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous

voltages or other risks. Incorrect reassembly can cause electric shock

when the appliance is subsequently used.

14. Unplug this product from the wall outlet and refer servicing to the

manufacturer under the following conditions: when the power supply

cord or plug is frayed or damaged; if liquid has been spilled into the

product; if the telephone has been exposed to rain or water; if the

telephone has been dropped or the case has been damaged; if the

telephone exhibits a distinct change in performance; if the telephone

does not operate normally by following the operating instructions.

Adjust only those controls that are covered by the operating

instructions. Improper adjustment may require extensive work by a

qualiﬁed technician to restore the telephone to normal operation.

15. Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.

16. Never install telephone jacks in wet locations unless the jack is

speciﬁcally designed for wet locations.

17. Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the

telephone line has been disconnected at the network interface.

18. Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

BATTERY SAFETY INFORMATION

Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions.

1. Do not dispose of the battery in a ﬁre as it may explode. Check

with local codes for possible special disposal instructions.

2. Do not open or mutilate the battery. Released electrolyte is

corrosive and may cause damage to the eyes and skin. Additionally, it

may be toxic if swallowed.

3. Exercise care in handling batteries in order not to short the

battery with conducting materials such as rings, bracelets and keys.

The battery or conduction material may overheat and cause burns.

TROUBLESHOOTING

No Dial Tone/Phone Will Not Operate

1. Check all phone cords and connections. Make sure they are

plugged in securely.

2. Plug unit into a different phone jack to help determine if the

difﬁculty is with the phone or the phone jack.

3. Switch out handset or telephone line cords.

4. Disconnect any other equipment that may be attached to the

phone.

Unable To Dial Out

1. Make sure the TONE/PULSE switch is set correctly.

2. Phone may be at the end of a long line of phones (loop). Phone

may not be getting enough power from the phone line. It may be

necessary to wait for a few seconds after lifting the handset to begin

dialing.

3. The XL40D is not compatible with Digital PBX Systems. If a

standard, single line phone works on the system, your XL40D should as

well.

4. There is an advanced computer running inside the XL40D.

Sometimes after the handset is picked up, it will take a little less than

a second to engage the phone. Since it is not immediate, if you dial a

number before the computer engages, it will not receive the entire

phone number that is dialed.

The Person On The Other End Cannot Hear You

1. Too many phones or phone devices on the line may affect your

phone’s transmission. As a guideline, more than ﬁve phones or phone

devices may overload the phone line. Disconnect one or two devices

to see if that eliminates the problem. If not, contact your local phone

company for load guidelines.

2. You may not be speaking directly into the transmitter. Always

speak directly into the mouthpiece in your normal tone of voice.

Unable To Hear Phone Ringer

1. Too many phone or phone devices on a line may cause your

phone to not ring. Disconnect one or two of the devices to see if the

problem is eliminated. If not, contact your local phone company for load

guidelines.

2. If power is not being supplied to the phone, the extra loud ringer

will not work.

3. Check the Ringer ON/OFF switch to see if the ringer is off.

Volume Control Does Not Work

1. BOOST must be activated to turn on the additional ampliﬁcation.

2. Check power connections. BOOST will not work without power

or backup batteries.

Unable To Access Automated Systems

Automated systems used by banks, long distance voicemail and

other applications require that a phone be set to TONE dialing. Check

the switch on the bottom of the phone labeled TONE/PULSE and set

to TONE. This will enable the phone to be compatible with these

automated systems.

If the power goes out, or the AC Adapter is not properly connected

to the phone, the ampliﬁcation, extra loud ringer and the lighted keypad

will not work. If you have backup batteries installed, ampliﬁcation will

still work, but the phone will drain the backup batteries very quickly.

This will cause the need for the batteries to be changed frequently and

the Low Battery indicator light to constantly illuminate.

Do I Need to Install Batteries? Batteries are optional. They provide

backup in case of a power outage. They are recommended in areas of

frequent power outages. This phone uses four alkaline batteries. When

installed and fully charged, the batteries maintain the high ampliﬁcation

for your telephone.

Still Not Working? If, after going through this checklist, the

XL40D is still not functioning properly, call ClarityLogic at

1-877-LOGIC24 (1-877-564-4224).

WARRANTY SERVICE INFORMATION

The following warranty and service information applies only to products

purchased and used in the U.S. and Canada. For warranty information in other

countries, please contact your local retailer or distributor.

Limited Warranty: Clarity, a division of Plantronics, Inc. (“Clarity”) warrants

to the original consumer purchaser that, except for limitations and exclusions

set forth below, this product shall be free from defects in materials and

workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of original purchase

(“Warranty Period”). The obligation of Clarity under this warranty shall be at

Clarity’s option, without charge, of any part or unit that proves to be defective

in material or workmanship during the Warranty Period.

Exclusions from Warranty: This warranty applies only to defects in factory

materials and factory workmanship. Any condition caused by accident, abuse,

misuse or improper operation, violation of instructions furnished by Clarity,

destruction or alteration, improper electrical voltages or currents, or repair

or maintenance attempted by anyone other than Clarity or an authorized

service center, is not a defect covered by this warranty. Telephone companies

manufacture different types of equipment and Clarity does not warrant that its

equipment is compatible with the equipment of a particular phone company.

Implied Warranties: Under state law, you may be entitled to the beneﬁt of

certain implied warranties. These implied warranties will continue in force only

during the warranty period. Some states do allow limitations on how long an

implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.

Incidental or Consequential Damages: Neither Clarity nor your retail

dealer or selling distributors has any responsibility for any incidental or

consequential damages including without limitation, commercial loss or proﬁt,

or for any incidental expenses, expenses, loss of time, or inconvenience. Some

states do not allow exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential

damage, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.

Other Legal Rights: This warranty gives you speciﬁc legal rights and you may

also have other rights which vary from state to state.

To obtain warranty service, please prepay shipment and return the unit to the

Please use the original container, or pack the unit(s) in a sturdy carton with

sufﬁcient packing material to prevent damage. Include the following information:

A proof-of-purchase indicating model number and date of purchase;

Bill-to address;

Ship-to address;

Number and description of units shipped;

Name and telephone number of person to call, should contact be necessary;

Reason for return and description of the problem.

Damage occurring during shipment is deemed the responsibility of the carrier,

and claims should be made directly with the carrier.

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

Part 68 of FCC Rules Information

a) This equipment complies with Part 68 of the FCC rules and the

requirements adopted by the ACTA. On the bottom of this equipment

is a label that contains, among other information, a product identiﬁer in

the format US:AAAEQ##TXXXX. If requested, this number must be

provided to the telephone company.

b) A plug and jack used to connect this equipment to the premise’s

wiring and telephone network must comply with the applicable FCC

Part 68 rules and requirements adopted by the ACTA. A compliant

telephone cord and modular plug, RJ11C USOC, is provided with this

product. It is designed to be connected to a compatible modular jack

that is also compliant. See installation instructions for details.

c) The REN is used to determine the number of devices that may be

connected to a telephone line. Excessive RENs on a telephone line may

result in the devices not ringing in response to an incoming call. In most

but not all areas, the sum of RENs should not exceed ﬁve (5.0). To be

certain of the number of devices that may be connected to a line, as

determined by the total RENs, contact the local telephone company. For

products approved after July 23, 2001, the REN for this product is part

of the product identiﬁer that has the format US:AAAEQ##TXXXX.

The digits represented by ## are the REN without a decimal point (e.g.,

03 is a REN of 0.3). For earlier products, the REN is separately shown

on the label.

d) If this telephone equipment causes harm to the telephone network,

the telephone company will notify you in advance that temporary

discontinuance of service may be required. But if advance notice isn’t

practical, the telephone company will notify customers as soon as

possible. Also, you will be advised of your right to ﬁle a complaint with

the FCC if you believe it is necessary.

e) The telephone company may make changes in its facilities, equipment,

operations or procedures that could affect the operation of the

equipment. If this happens, the telephone company will provide advance

notice in order for you to make necessary modiﬁcations to maintain

uninterrupted service.

f) If trouble is experienced with this telephone equipment, for repair or

warranty information, please contact Clarity at 1-800-426-3738. If the

equipment is causing harm to the telephone network, the telephone

company may request that you disconnect the equipment until the

problem is resolved.

g) This telephone equipment is not intended to be repaired and it

contains no repairable parts. Opening the equipment or any attempt to

perform repairs will void the warranty. For service, call 1-800-426-3738.

h) Connection to party line service is subject to state tariffs. Contact

the state public utility commission, public service commission or

corporation commission for information.

i) If your home has specially wired alarm equipment connected to the

telephone line, ensure the installation of this telephone equipment does

not disable your alarm equipment. If you have questions about what will

disable alarm equipment, consult your telephone company or a qualiﬁed

installer.

j) This telephone equipment is hearing aid compatible.

Customer-Owned Coin/Credit Card Phones:

To comply with state tariffs, the telephone company must be given

notiﬁcation prior to connection. In some states, the state public utility

commission, public service commission or corporation commission must

give prior approval of connection.

Part 15 of FCC Rules Information

This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject

to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful

interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received,

including interference that may cause undesired operation.

Your equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits of a Class

B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of FCC rules. These limits are designed

to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in residential

installation.

This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if

not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful

interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that

interference will not occur in a particular installation; if this equipment does

cause harmful interference to radio or television reception (which can be

WARNING: Changes or modiﬁcations not expressly approved by the

manufacturer responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to

operate the equipment.

Industry Canada Technical Speciﬁcations

This product meets the applicable Industry Canada technical

speciﬁcations.

Before installing this equipment, users should ensure that it is permissible to

be connected to the facilities of the local telecommunications company. The

equipment must also be installed using an acceptable method of connection.

In some cases, the company’s inside wiring associated with a single line

individual service may be extended by means of a certiﬁed connector assembly

(telephone extension cord). The customer should be aware that compliance

with the above conditions may not prevent degradation of service in some

situations. Repairs to certiﬁed equipment should be made by an authorized

Canadian maintenance facility designated by the supplier.

Any repairs or alterations made by the user to this equipment, or equipment

malfunctions, may give the telecommunications company cause to request the

user to disconnect the equipment.

Users should ensure for their own protection that the electrical ground

connections of the power utility, telephone lines and internal metallic water

pipe system, if present, are connected together. This precaution may be

particularly important in rural areas.

WARNING: Users should not attempt to make such connections

themselves, but should contact the appropriate electrical inspection authority,

or electrician, as appropriate.

The Ringer Equivalence Number is an indication of the maximum number of

terminals allowed to be connected to a telephone interface. The termination

SUBSCRIPTION DATA AND PRIVACY POLICY

Your device will automatically send Clarity various types of

information as part of the Clarity services, which may include

the phone number associated with your device. This information

may be combined with account and other information we have

on record regarding you or your device or may be transmitted

to us by your device. To assist with remote diagnostics and other

customer services functions, your device may also regularly send

us certain information associated with your device, including

software and hardware settings, the phonebook, caller ID history

and other information you have stored on the device. All of such

information, together with other information that we have on

record regarding you and your device, is collectively referred to

as the “Subscription Data.” We use this information to diagnose

and troubleshoot any device issues as well as to provide you

Le Bouton bleu de ClarityLogic : appuyer le bouton bleu pour l’accès direct à

un Représentant d’Assistance clientèle.

Touche Mémoire (M1- M10 en plus du numéro d’urgence) : pour des nombres

sauvés (voir la section de STOCKAGE DE MÉMOIRE pour des détails).

Contrôle de Tonalité : utilisez ce commutateur pour sélectionner un de la tonalité 4

Touche de RD/P (Recomposition/Pause) : utilisez ce bouton pour recomposer le

dernier nombre composé (jusqu’à 32 chiffres). Quand en mode de programmation, appuyez sur

ce bouton pour insérer une 2-seconde pause.

Bouton de HOLD/PROGRAM (Garde/Programmation) : pendant un appel, utilisez

ce bouton pour mettre la prise d’invitation ; appuyez sur le bouton encore pour libérer l’appel

de la prise. Quand le téléphone est dans l’état à vide, utilisez ce bouton pour programmer les

clefs de mémoire (voir la section de STOCKAGE de MÉMOIRE pour des détails).

Indicateur de Décharge de la Pile : la lumière s’allume quand les batteries de secours

sont basses.

Sonneries Visuelles : les lumières tournent en marche et en arrêt quand le téléphone

sonne.

Indicateur d’Appel en Absence : la lumière s’allume quand il y avait usanswered l’appel

(actif une fois manqué le commutateur d’appel est allumé - placé sur le fond du téléphone).

Indicateur de Messagerie Vocale/Indicateur de Sonnerie/OSA : a. La lumière

allume le VERT quand il y a un voicemail encore avec votre dispositif de voicemail (de la

compagnie locale de téléphone). b. La lumière tourne le ROUGE quand le commutateur de

sonnerie est dans la position de repos. c. La lumière tourne l’ORANGE quand le dispositif de

OSA est en activité.

Bouton de Tonalité de Sonnerie : appuyez sur ce bouton pour choisir la tonalité

entrante désirée d’anneau. Choisissez une des six (6) tonalités availble d’anneau pour choisir la

sonnerie la plus favorable.

Volume de Sonnerie +/- : serrez augmenter de clefs pour/diminution le volume de

l’anneau entrant.

Commutateur de Sonnerie ON/OFF (Marche/Arrêt) : utilisez ce commutateur

pour arrêter la sonnerie dessus ou. Quand le commutateur est placé AU LOIN, la lumière au

dessus du téléphone allume le ROUGE.

Point d’Accès du Combiné : insérez un écouteur standard (prise de 2.5mm) à

l’utilisation au lieu du combiné.

Commutateur sortant de l’ampliﬁcation de la parole (OSA) : utilisez le

commutateur pour placer le niveau du niveau sortant d’ampliﬁcation de la parole. Pour activer/

mettez le commutateur d’OSA, pression et tenez hors tension le bouton de BOOST pendant 3

secondes (voir la section d’OSA).

Boucle de Cou Neckloop : insérez un neckloop standard (mono, prise de 3.5mm)

à l’utilisation avec le votre T-lovent la prothèse auditive équipée. Nous recommandons le

neckloop Clarity CE30.

Commutateur de Boost Override (Dérogation d’Ampliﬁcation) : placez à si ON

vous souhaitez la fonction de BOOST à permettre au début de tous les appels.

Commutateur de Missed Call (Appel en Absence) : placez à si vous souhaitez ON

faire permettre la lumière manquée d’appel.

Commutateur de Voice Mail (Messagerie Vocale) : placez à si vous souhaitez la ON

lumière au dessus du téléphone au vert de tour quand vous avez une audio-messagerie (service

de votre fournisseur de service de téléphone).

méthode composante désirée.

1. Retirer le crochet du combiné, hors de la base et, inverser la position

pour permettre au crochet de pointer ver le haut et de supporter le

combiné lorsque vous raccrochez. Voir Figure 3.

2. Brancher une extrémité du cordon court et plat de la ligne

télphonique dans la sortie indiquée par , située à l’arrière LINE

du téléphone. Faire passer le cordon dans la rainure, à l’arrière du

téléphone. Insérer les languettes du support de ﬁxation dans les fentes

à l’arrière du téléphone. Presser le support de ﬁxation fermement en

place jusqu’à ce qu’il se produise un contact à déclic. Voir Figure 4.

3. Brancher le cordon de ligne téléphonique plat, dans la prise de plaque

murale et ensuite, aligner les encoches avec les goujons de la plaque

murale et glisser la base du téléphone vers le bas pour le solidiﬁer au

mur. Voir Figure 5.

BRUITS ENTRANTS

1. Serrez et tenez l’endroit de mémoire désiré (M1-M10 et urgence)

pour stocker le nombre à. Le téléphone fera bip-bip pour vous

conﬁrmer sont en mode de programmation de mémoire. Voir le Figure

10.

2. Écrivez le numéro de téléphone que vous souhaitez stocker

(jusqu’à 31 chiffres). Si aucun bouton n’est appuyé sur dans 30

secondes, le téléphone chronométrera dehors et va de nouveau au

mode de ralenti ou d’entretien.

3. Appuyez sur le bouton de prise/programme pour sauver le nombre

désiré. Le téléphone fera bip-bip pour conﬁrmer le nombre a été

économisé. Voir le Figure 11.

4. Pour changer un endroit de mémoire, reprogrammez en utilisant le

même procédé avec le bouton à changer.

1. Tandis qu’à un appel, appuyez sur le bouton de pour BOOST

engager l’ampliﬁcateur. Le XL40D a un bouton de BOOST qui

commande le volume du récepteur. Voir le Figure 6. Une fois le bouton

de BOOST est appuyé sur, un niveau supplémentaire d’ampliﬁcation est

ajouté sur la gamme entière de la commande de volume. Pendant un

appel, le bouton de BOOST peut basculer la fonction de puissance de

clarté dessus ou au loin selon les besoins de l’utilisateur. Le bouton de

BOOST remettra à zéro automatiquement chaque fois que le téléphone

est accroché vers le haut pendant au moins 5 secondes. La lumière de

BOOST illuminera (bleu) tandis que la fonction de BOOST est activée.

Avertissement : Le volume peut être à un à niveau élevé.

Pour protéger l’audition, abaissez la commande de volume de

Clarity Power avant d’utiliser le téléphone.

2. Ajustez le glisseur de VOLUME pour réaliser le niveau sonore

désiré (jusqu’à 50dB d’ampliﬁcation). La commande de volume de

puissance de clarté ajuste le niveau du volume que le combiné les deux

dedans ampliﬁent ou non-Ampliﬁent des modes. Le cadran de volume

fournit jusqu’à 16dB de volume avant que le bouton de BOOST soit

actionné. Une fois le bouton de BOOST est appuyé sur, le XL40D

fournira jusqu’à 50dB de gain. Voir le Figure 7.

3. En ajustant la TONE commutez te permet d’adapter votre

expérience d’audition. Puisque nous tous avons différentes préférences

d’audition nous suggérons explorer chaque arrangement pour trouver

celui le plus confortable pour toi. Ces quatre arrangements, avec notre

ampliﬁcation de volume, font partie de la technologie de la Puissance

de Clarté de Digital (DCP™). Voir le Figure 8. Les arrangements

disponibles sont :

1- Emphase de basse fréquence : mieux entendaient les bruits

graves ;

2 - Réponse en fréquence plate : mieux pour des utilisateurs de

prothèse auditive ;

3 - Puissance de clarté/réponse à haute fréquence d’emphase :

mieux utilisé à entendez les sons de haute fréquence ;

4 - Multi compression de bande avec la réponse à haute fréquence

d’emphase : le meilleur arrangement pour l’intelligibilité de la

parole.

Dérogation d’Ampliﬁcation

Sur le fond du XL40D, il y a un commutateur de priorité de poussée.

Quand ceci est placé à ON la fonction de poussée est automatiquement

permise chaque fois le téléphone est prise. Dans l’utilisation standard,

quand le commutateur de priorité de poussée est placé à OFF la fonction

de poussée s’éteindra après que le téléphone soit accroché vers le

haut. Plaçant ce commutateur à ON est suggéré si tous utilisateurs du

téléphone ont besoin de l’ampliﬁcation. Le réglage de ce commutateur

à OFF est utile quand les gens avec l’utilisation variable de capacité

d’audition le téléphone. Voir le Figure 9.

Pour composer les nombres sauvés :

1. En mode de combiné, soulevez le combiné et appuyez sur la

touche mémoire appropriée.

2. En mode de speakerphone, appuyez sur la touche mémoire

appropriée avec le combiné dans le berceau.

S’il y a une panne de puissance, le XL40D maintiendra son plein

ampliﬁcation pendant jusqu’à 48 heures avec quatre batteries de secours

alkalines d’aa (non incluses).

Le téléphone fonctionne comme téléphone régulier s’il n’y a aucune

batterie de puissance ou de protection. Dans ce cas-ci, les voyants

de signalisation, la sonnerie forte, le bloc de touches allumé et

l’ampliﬁcation seront inactifs ; vous pourrez toujours faire et recevoir

des appels de téléphone, mais l’ampliﬁcation supplémentaire ne sera pas

enganged. Nous recommandons d’installer des batteries si vous vivez

dans un secteur avec les pannes fréquentes de puissance.

AMPLIFICATION SORTANT DE LA PAROLE (OSA)

Cette fonction ampliﬁe votre discours ainsi elle devient plus fort à

la personne sur l’autre ﬁn de l’appel. Pour permettre cette fonction,

appuyer sur et tenir le bouton de pendant 3 secondes BOOST/OSA

(voir Figure12). Les signaux sonores de téléphone ; la fonction peut

être activer/tandis qu’à un appel de téléphone ou en mode ‘attente’.

Vériﬁer la fonction est en activité, soulève le combiné et vériﬁe la

lumière au dessus du téléphone. Si la lumière est ORANGE, la fonction

est en activité. Pour ajuster le niveau de l’ampliﬁcation à votre voix,

utilisez le commutateur du côté du téléphone marqué l’ampliﬁcation

sortant de la parole (OSA). Vous pouvez choisir entre trois niveaux :

Bas, Med et Haut (voir Figure 13).

Pour retourner au défaut plaçant pour votre niveau de volume de voix,

appuyez sur et tenez le bouton de encore pendant 3 BOOST/OSA

secondes. Vous entendrez un signal sonore conﬁrmer que la fonction

est handicapée. Pour vériﬁer, la lumière au dessus du téléphone ne

devrait pas être orange quand vous êtes à un appel de téléphone.

NOTE : Aﬁn d’éprouver la meilleure qualité audio pour les deux

parties pendant un appel, nous vous recommandons allumons cette

fonction seulement si votre voix est trop tranquille. OSA n’est pas en

activité en mode de speakerphone.

Installez les batteries de secours (facultatives) en enlevant la couverture

de batterie suivant les indications du Figure 1. Reliez votre téléphone

suivant les indications du Figure 2.

Reliez une extrémité de la corde de téléphone dans la LIGNE

(carrée) port sur le dos du téléphone ; reliez l’autre extrémité de la

corde de téléphone dans votre sortie de téléphone de mur.

Reliez une extrémité de la corde ﬁxée à la main (bouclée) dans le

cric de combiné du côté gauche de votre base ; reliez l’autre extrémité

de la corde de combiné dans le fond du combiné. Placez le combiné dans

le berceau.

Reliez la corde d’adapteur de CD dans le port (rond) de DC

9V 500mA sur le dos de votre téléphone ; branchez l’adapteur à votre

sortie électrique de mur.

Une fois ﬁni, soulevez le combiné à l’essai. Si vous entendez une tonalité,

votre téléphone est opérationnel. Sinon, vériﬁez tous les raccordements

encore.

Quand vous utilisez votre équipement téléphonique, des mesures de sécurité

simple devraient toujours être sui-vis pour réduire le risque de feu, choc

électrique et blessures aux personnes incluant :

1. Lire et comprendre toutes mode d’emploi.

2. Suivre tout les avis et les modes d’emploi indiqués sur le téléphone.

3. Ne pas utiliser ce téléphone près d’un bain, un lavabo, un évier de cui sine

ou un bac, dans une cave mouillée, près d’une piscine ou aux endroits ou il y

à de l’eau.

4. Évitez l’utilisation d’un telephone (autre qu’un type sans ﬁl) durant un or-

age. Il y a une chance de recevoir un choc électrique d’un éclair.

5. Ne pas employer le téléphone pour signaler une fuite de gaz dans les envi-

rons de la fuite.

6. Débranchez ce téléphone de la prise de courant murale avant de le nettoy-

er. Ne pas utiliser des produits nettoyant liquide ou aérosol sur le téléphone.

Employez un étoffe humecter pour nettoyer.

7. Placez ce téléphone sur une surface bien équilibrée. Des dommages séri-

eux et/ou blessures peuvent résulter si le téléphone tombe.

8. Ne pas couvrir les fentes et les ouvertures sur ce téléphone. Ce téléphone

ne devrait jamais être placé sur ou proche d’une chauffer ette ou d’un reg-

istre de chaleur. Ce téléphone ne devrait pas être placé dans une installation

encastrée à moins qu’une ventilation correcte soit fournie.

9. Faites fonctionner ce téléphone en utilisant la tension électrique déclarée

sur la base de l’unité ou dans le manuel d’utilisateur. Si vous n’êtes pas cer-

tains de la tension dans votre maison, consultez votre distributeur ou votre

compagnie de pouvoir régional.

10. Ne placez rien sur le cordon d’alimentation. Installez le téléphone ou

personne ne marchera ou trébu chera sur le cordon.

11. Ne surchargez pas les prises murales ou les cordes de prolongation

comme ceci peut augmenter le risque du feu ou de choc électrique.

12. Ne jamais pousser des objets dans les fentes du téléphone. Ils peuvent

toucher des points de tensions dan gereuses ou causer des courts- circuits

qui pourraient résulter en in cendie ou choc électrique. Ne jamais renverser

du liquide de n’importe quel genre sur le téléphone.

13. Pour réduire le risque de choc électrique, ne pas démonter ce téléphone.

Ouvrir ou enlever des couvertures peut vous exposez à de dangereuses

tensions ou à d’autres risques. Un remontage incorrect peut causer un choc

électrique quand l’appareil est utilisé par la suite.

14. Débranchez cet appareil de la prise de courant murale et envoyez le ser-

vice d’entretient au fabricant sous les conditions suivantes : Quand la corde

ou la prise d’alimentation d’énergie est frangée ou endommagée ; Si on a

renversé le liquide dans le produit ; Si du liquide a été renversé dans l’appareil

; Si le téléphone a été exposé à la pluie ou à de l’eau ; Si le téléphone a tombé

ou si l’étui est endommagé ; Si le téléphone indique un change ment distinct

dans l’exécution ; Si le téléphone ne fonctionne pas comme d’habitude, même

en suivant le mode d’emploi. Seulement régler les com-mandes traitées dans

le Mode D’emploi. Un réglage incorrect peut exiger un travail vaste par un

technician qualiﬁé pour rétablir le téléphone à une opération normale.

15. Ne jamais installer une connexion téléphonique pendant un orage élec-

trique.

16. Ne jamais installer de prises tél phoniques dans des emplacements mouil-

lés à moins que la prise est spéciﬁquement conçue pour des emplacements

mouillés.

17. Ne jamais toucher de ﬁls téléphoniques non isolés ou de bornes à moins

que la ligne téléphonique a été débranchée à l’interface de réseau.

18. Faites attention en installant ou en modiﬁant les lignes téléphoniques.

MESURES DE SÉCURITÉ

MESURES DE SÉCURITÉ POUR PILES

Disposez les piles usagées selon les directives.

1. Ne pas jeter les piles dans un feu, elles peuvent exploser. Vériﬁez les régle-

mentations locales pour des instructions de décharge spéciales.

2. Ne pas ouvrir ou dégrader les piles. L’électrolyte relâché est corrosif et

peut causer des blessures aux yeux et à la peau. Ceci peut être toxique si

avalé.

3. Faites attention durant le maniement des piles aﬁn de ne pas causer un

court-circuit à la pile avec des matériaux sous courants tels que les bagues,

les bracelets et les clefs. La pile ou le matériel de conduction peut sur-

chauffer et peut causer des brûlures.
